This fall has dealt with Inuyasha learning and mastering new skills with the Tessaiga. That oughta take care of the preview. Now, with the developments over the last few months, and after the most recent near-miss, I’m wondering if they’re getting legitimately close to the finale.
Inuyasha’s group and Koga spent the last month’s issues in an intense battle with Moryomaru. Just as Inuyasha had exposed the Naraku-child, it spewed out a cloud of miasma and escaped (Now the rubber band is on the other claw! woo woo woo woo!). Afterward, Koga realizes that the wolf demons have been getting killed because of Naraku’s attempts to get his shikon shards, sends his friends on their way, and joins up with Inuyasha’s group.
I’m not really surprised that they didn’t get rid of at least Moryomaru. The kid is helpless without him and if they kill the kid, they kill Naraku. And they’re sure not gonna do that unless Naraku is actually there and Kikyo is involved as well. All these suspenseful confrontations are really getting tiresome, though.
Before this more recent development, Totosai approached Sesshomaru and said that he has become “good” enough such that he reforged the Tenseiga so that it can attack. Earlier still, one of Kikyo’s soul collectors went to Midoriko’s cave and picked up some remnant of her soul to give to Kikyo. Around that time Kohaku started following her around too.
Unless Takahashi plans to have Sesshomaru actually join forces with Inuyasha, it really seems like the battle lines have been drawn. I’ve gotten this impression before, though. There’s still the matter of Kanna, the tension between Naraku and his “heart,” and that newest creature he’s developed, Byakuya. I’m betting on at least one more filler arc in the present day, and then we’ll be on the home stretch.
So in light of what’s been going on recently, do you think we’ll see a wrapup of Inuyasha in 2006 or not?
