What happened to Sango (Inuyasha)?

I turned on [adult swim] last night, for the first time since the last ep of The Venture Bros., basically. I was a bit intrigued that the episode of Inuyasha that was being shown was one I hadn’t seen before, and also that they ran two episodes in a row. Pretty cool stuff.

But where were Sango and Kirara (Kilala)? This wasn’t a really old episode, was it?

In case you missed it last night, Inuyasha was going one-on-one against his half-brother Sesshomaru, who was able to wield the Tetsusaigu (thanks to a human arm that he had been loaned by Naraku, held in place with a jewel shard), and had seized if from Inuyasha. Inuyasha and Kagome were accompanied by Shippo and Miroku, with Master Hochi providing some transportation. Upon retreat, they went back to Kaede for rest and recuperation.

I went to Wikipedia to look up information on Sango’s whereabouts, but I had no luck. I’d be willing to assume that the episodes predated Sango’s entry into the group, but Inuyasha seemed to be displaying more actual concern over Kagome’s welfare than I’ve ever seen, which argues for more development of their relationship than was apparent when Sango was around.

So what did I miss?

It was an old episode, from right after they hooked up with Miroku. I didn’t really notice Inuyasha behaving all that differently toward Kagome, but if he was, it could be attributable to the recent addition of “competition” in the form of Miroku. Or it may simply have been Sesshomaru’s presence that triggered it–remember that Inuyasha first accessed the powers of the Tetsusaiga to protect Kagome from his half-brother.

Oh, ok. Thanks.

Yeah, sounds like episode 19. Sango doesn’t show up until episode 24, and Inuyasha et. al. don’t meet her until episode 25.
