If you don’t mind paying, you can watch the next day via Amazon – $1.89 per episode if you choose the season pass option. That’s how I’m getting it, but I’m about five episodes behind!
Coover was in Lost too.
Another great episode this week. Go Boyd!
I’m very disappointed in Ava. What a hypocrite.
My wife asked me an interesting question as we were watching the latest episode: “Other than Winona Ryder and Wynonna Judd, do you know any other Winonas?”
I told her I thought it’s not all that uncommon a name, but I have not been able to think of any others than those two (now three with Raylan’s ex.)
Anybody?
I know of another Winona, she happens to have a big brown beaver.
Hah, that’s just what I was thinking! (It’s a reference to a Primus song, if anyone else is wondering…)
She took Boyd in on the condition that he do no wrong while under her roof, he stuck to that pretty well. She kicked him out when he told her that his career of evil was the only calling that truly spoke to him.
That she is in love with him stands not against her beliefs - she may well try to dissuade him from wrongdoing- but goes to the fact that she is human and needs love, just like everyone.
In what way is she a hypocrite?
Well, for one, she accepted the money from the mine. She used to preach to Boyd about not doing anything criminal. Two, she waited (as far as we have been shown, anyway) until after she knew he was back to his old tricks to actually show her feelings for him. So all of the sudden her restrictions about his criminal activity don’t matter because she’s in love? Definition of hypocrite.
One. She did take the money, but I don’t think she was ‘preaching’ to Boyd, just laying down the law. It’s complicated (to me).
Two. She realised after he had moved out how she felt about him, that seems reasonable to me. She loves him, but not what he does. Hopefully this will be borne out in the coming episodes.
For what it’s worth, I think it’s not meant to be black or white, right or wrong, what makes it interesting is the grey area in these people’s lives. Fascinating stuff.
Totally agree.
Finally caught up with the last five or six episodes. Season finale next week. Anyone hear yet if it’s been renewed?
If Margo Martindale doesn’t get an Emmy nod for her work, there’s no justice. Jeremy Davies is no slacker either, and neither is the guy who plays Coover. What kind of a name is Coover? Is it short for something? Just a nickname?
What are your thoughts on the visit from the elderly woman. She talks to Maggs and Jed changes his story. Maggs should have thought of that herself – we’ll kill your family if you don’t take the rap. Since Maggs has been a step ahead all season, is something else going on with regard to the old lady?
That was Maggs’ idea. The old lady came to Maggs because Maggs called her. It would look too suspicious if Maggs talked to Jed herself.
Yes, it’s been renewed along with the other good FX shows.
Aha! How did I miss that?
I think I missed something else, maybe an entire episode. Gary (Winona’s soon to be ex-husband) and Wynn Duffy – how did Gary convince Duffy to hire the hit men? Gary didn’t have money to pay him, did he?
Gary was after Wynona’s insurance money - assumedly enough to pay Wynn and have a little left over - and there was something about a horse earlier on, but that seems to be dropped.
Holy crap! Winona’s life insurance?
Yup - there’s only one way to collect that - and they still had to be married for it to work, hence the ‘meltdown’ at the divorce attorneys office.
Damn. Do you think Raylan knew that? Is that why he told Gary that he wouldn’t tell Winona? I thought it was bad enough that Gary would put a hit out on Raylan. If the hit was on Winona for her life insurance, then Raylan should damn well have told her. Especially when she was softening toward Gary, after his “apology”.
I don’t agree with this character arc. Gary wanting to kill Winona for insurance money is way too far from season one Gary.
Now I’m confused – wasn’t it Gary who was pushing for the divorce?
