Anyone watch the Chicago Code?

Yeah, I’ve been following it from the first episode, all of them aired in the right order.

Yep, this is the pilot and Episode 1 (I’m going by the production code which actually lists the pilot as “79”), so they obviously follow each other.

Yep, this is another grouping, 9 and 10. I’ll admit I haven’t seen the “Gillis” episode, so I can’t comment on that.

This is where I really took notice of it. This one goes 3 - 2 - 4. Liam talked to to Wysocki about the arson in O’Leary’s Cow (I double check on Hulu). He wasn’t even in The Gold Coin Kid. And didn’t you notice how Wysocki went from getting along with his partner in Cabrini-Green back to wanting to get rid of him in Gold Coin Kid?

Now, I know Wikipedia is the #1 source, but you can look at the production codes here for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Chicago_Code_episodes

Well, one argument against a Fox-meddling out-of-order theory is that producer Shawn Ryan tweeted that the Smashing Pumpkins song “Song for a Son” would close Episode 7 (which it did this past Monday) before the first episode (when he announced that Billy Corgan would sing the title theme). So if they shuffled air-dates, then it probably wasn’t Fox who did the shuffling, it was probably Ryan. And I guess since it is his show, he’s got the right.

Looking through his Twitter, it looks like it’s all him. 9 and 10 were written later but they were intended to come that early. “Gold Coin Kid” still feels really out of place though.

I thought that was because Wysocki had started to trust Evars and then found out he had applied for the FBI.

I like the show, but Jennifer Beals sort of drives me crazy.
I was born in the Chicago area and I don’t think I have ever heard anybody with that accent - she sounds like an extra in Fargo.
Plus, am I the only one who has noticed she cannot wear a hat? Her head must be 6 inches in circumference, as every hat is far too big for her head.

Maybe she’s just laying it on a little thick, but at least you can’t say she doesn’t have a clue what a blue-collar Chicagoan should sound like.

I know she was born in the area - but still, so was I.
Sorry, but in all those years I never heard anybody speak like that unless they moved to Chicago from the Minneapolis suburbs.

I decided to start a thread on this:

Another week, and we see Alderman Gibbons actually acting charitably. I know he’s meant to be Machiavellian, but this seems to go beyond the level of generosity I expect from a politician. Then again, I don’t know many politicians.

I think Wysocki made the wrong point to Liam. Liam observes Alderman Gibbons’ behavior, and makes the observation that he really seems to care about his constituents.

Wysocki’s response should have been - “So what? Are you forgetting that he had you kill a man? He’s still a dangerous criminal and needs to be caught.”

It doesn’t matter what Gibbons’ motivation is for taking care of his people, the fact is that he is a dangerous thug. Helping out the underprivileged doesn’t offset his ruthless killing.

Another good episode, which is a shame since it’s not looking good for this show. Kinda worrying how the promo just said “The last four episodes”, not “The last four episodes of the season.” Should we start campaigning for a cable channel to pick it up, ala Southland?

More geography fun this episode too. Anyone know where that restaurant was? I don’t think it was actually in Lincoln Park, since the L was running directly over the street. I don’t think there’s anywhere in Lincoln Park where that happens. I’m not even sure that happens anywhere north of Chicago Avenue.

The outside, at least, looked like Miller’s Pub on Wabash in the Loop, between Monroe and Adams.

Not just the outside, but the interiors were also Miller’s Pub. Yes, I know it well. Great old-school Chicago eatery, but decidedly NOT in Lincoln Park!

And **enalzi **is correct, the el tracks in Lincoln Park are between the streets, primarily between Sheffield and Bissell/Wilton…TRM (long time Lincoln Park resident)

Oh Nooooo!!!

Looks like this awesome show has been canceled! Time to start the letter-writing campaign. Maybe USA network will pick it up?

Son of a bitch.

It wouldn’t fit with USA, but it could totally work on FX.

Not been a good year for new shows that I like…

Hi, Opal!

There’s been a lot of grumbling in the Chicago acting community today, I’ll tell you.

I’m annoyed. The ratings system are statistically no better than a wild guess, particularly nowadays when a lot of people watch TV on services like Hulu, which, insanely, aren’t counted at all despite the numbers being right there on the web server logs.

Also annoyed about “Lie to Me.” It wasn’t as great as the first season anymore, but it was still good.

Those bastards at Fox make me sick.

USA, FX: Please pick this one up. This is the only drama on TV that I’ve watched regularly in years. My wife and I have actually adjusted our schedules around it.

I’ll add to that: whoever picks it up (please!), please leave it on Hulu. Some of us are perfectly willing to watch it, but can’t afford to shell out $100+ a month for cable TV.
