The new trailer looks good. Bring on S2!
So, is there a release date for the next season yet? I skimmed that article, but didn’t see one.
I’m excited. I didn’t want to like it, i thought it was going to be pretentious. It grew on me. I can’t wait to see where they’re going with it.
Wiki sez Jan. 17.
The article in @Darren_Garrison’s post above states Jan. 17 as well (You have to scroll almost to the end to find that info, but it’s in there).
That looks very weird and spooky and cool. And hey, Bob Balaban! Can’t wait.
(I guess she’s been in plenty of stuff, but I only know her from Arrested Development)
I just binged the first season on the Roku Channel for free and I loved it. It has a Black Mirror feel.
Now I found that season 2 starts this month, but you have to have an Apple TV+ subscription to watch it. I hate that they roped me in with a free season then want to charge me for the next. I have a feeling that this will become a common practice. ![]()
I may just wait until all episodes have dropped then get the free trial week to watch them.
Make sure you use the opportunity to sample some other series on Apple TV. I consider it the most “quality” of the streaming services I subscribe to. It’s kind of taken over from AMC as the place to find shows that will one day be considered the best of the decade.
Honestly, I dont think another streaming service will fit my budget. That may change in the near future but I’ll have to wait and see.
I find that creating new threads for each season (especially if a thread is three years old like this one) tends to create more discussion and is easier for new people to jump in, so I went ahead and created a Severance season 2 thread.
Good idea - thanks! I’ll check it out.
Just finished S1 and this is by far the best show I’ve seen in at least two years and maybe a lot longer. It ranks up there with prime Sopranos and The Wire, IMO. Just a brilliantly written, directed, and performed show, along with amazing sets, music, etc.
I am at the mid point of Season 1 (Helly has just tried to off herself), and I am fascinated with the whole severance process. I do have a few questions that I hope will be addressed in later episodes:
- How do they keep the innies from losing their minds? To them, their entire life is within the windowless rooms and halls of the office. They don’t sleep, play sports, date, go on vacation, or anything other than work and hang out with their coworkers. Even if their outies take a long vacation, they don’t get a break. In the blink of an eye they go from leaving at the end of the day to arriving in the morning wearing new clothes.
- How are affairs handled? They do not seem to know if they are married, dating, or even have kids on the outside. With how easily they have been able to view contraband materials, I don’t think anyone would notice if they sneaked off for a quicky in the supply closet.
- How they are kept happy doing such boring and mundane work. Their rewards are also pretty lame. Not sure I would work that hard for a finger trap or a waffle party.
Looking forward to the next season and a half.
Those questions are essentially what the series is about.
Yes, a lot of those questions will be addressed in the next season and a half. But regarding the “lame” rewards: you’re viewing this with a lifetime of experience behind you. How would you view it if you were about 6 months old, never having experienced anything outside the office building, and having lived your whole life in a culture where a waffle party has been presented as one of the ultimate goals to aspire to?
I think of the innies as sort of middle school age. Goofy rewards are cool because they don’t know any other kind. It goes along with being treated as children in every aspect of their “lives”.
You haven’t seen the waffle party yet.
I have now seen the waffle party. It was definitely not what I was expecting.
I’d work somewhere that had ice cream parties set to defiant jazz.
