Looks like I’m encountering a few glitches. That same error page sometimes coming up when I try to open a thread or post. But refreshing the page seems to work for now.

Well, it’s definitely gotten a lot better, and I’ve had no more trouble logging in. But there are still some glitches, such as getting an error message if I click on a thread. Refreshing works in that case, but if I get the error message after clicking on New Posts or a Search, it makes me wait 5 more minutes.
FWIW, I haven’t encountered any problems for several days now.
Since it always seems to happen to me around 9:00AM, I’ve always attributed it to people getting to work and, instead of getting to the work they’re being paid to do, they start immediately checking their personal e-mail and visiting all the threads they’re subscribed to.
9:00 AM West Coast or East Coast?
3PM UK time is 9AM east coast.
And it happens at all times of the day for me…pages not loading, pages taking several minutes to load and I just don’t bother waiting and do something else, etc.
West Coast. I see the biggest lag/inability to connect from about 9:00AM, when people with the types of jobs where they use a computer are likely arriving at work, to about 10:00, then it gets much better, then there’s more trouble between noon and 1:00. (And hey, plenty of posters have admitted they do much/most of their posting from work. Which can be annoying for people like me whose jobs don’t involve using a computer - I have to wait until I get home to check the board, and between all the earlier-time-zone people and people posting from work, most of the threads I could have contributed to have already been responded to with the same answer I would have given and all I can do is add a smartass comment after the fact 
)
Now, granted, a lot of the lag/inability to connect can be attributed to all the non-Doper people in my city/time zone all hitting the 'Net at the same time, thus clogging up the tubes, but I can still connect to most other sites during those times (if a bit slowly).
A little trouble logging just now, at 10:55am Monday morning. We’re 7 hours ahead of GMT, so that’s 10:55pm Sunday night in Chicago, 11:55pm on the East Coast. Received an error page when I tried logging on. Refreshing took me back to the log in page, where I had to log in from scratch. Did that twice and then worked on the third try.
Same for me. I haven’t seen it run this smoothly in months. Possibly years. I hope something demonstrably changed that we can pin this improvement as being down to.
I’m touching wood frantically, because it’s still going well.
