This really isn’t working for me.
But I’ll probably watch some more hoping they raise their game.
I’m not taken by it yet, either. I’ve gotten a few laughs from Archer and Pam, but the others…meh. I’d put the bird in third place. I’ll keep watching, though, because it’s only 22 minutes of my life every week and when it’s funny, it’s funny.
It’s time to call it, this season is terrible and it needs to end.
Too bad they didn’t go to “Whore Island.”
I find it worth watching, but not as good as previous seasons. It’s still worth 22 minutes to watch, but I’d definitely pick a different season if someone was only going to watch one. IMO the biggest disappointment is that they’re not really using the setting - last season they made a ton of jokes and references to the time and genre, this time they seem mostly disconnected from the island and prewar time period aside from some ham-handed references. In the last season there was a bit where Archer was claiming his military experience meant he should lead the escape, and he dismissed the black guys’ experience because they’d just be porters or whatnot, but the one black guy was from an actual decorated military unit, which is the kind of clever and obscure reference they usually do well. This season the German Cyril snickers that Germany is going to take care of France, which isn’t bad but just doesn’t hit the same clever note.
It is unimpressive and not particularly funny. They depend too much on saying “shut up” and the characters just aren’t working well.
