Archer Season 7 - Sploosh!

The cast discuss their favorite running gags: Insider

I thought Archer falling down the hill was a little too “Homer Simpson”.

They never sold any coke that I remember. Each week it was just them screwing up a deal, it got old. I hope this season isn’t them just screwing up a case every week.

Funny, I thought it was too “Family Guy” because he kept falling, then you’d think the gag was done with, but he kept on falling.

Also, the episode started with Archer face down in the swimming pool; but I don’t recall that they ever addressed that, did they?

I’m guessing that the whole season will be leading up to Archer, apparently dead, floating in that pool. It’s a reference to the beginning of Sunset Boulevard.

ETA: I’m also guessing that the season will end with Archer suddenly lifting his head out of the pool and yell “wooo! New record for holding my breath in a pool!” or some such.

They switched from that scene to the next scene with a “Six Months Earlier” transition. So it’s likely the entire season will lead up to that ending.

Bumped.

Watched the whole season and was… underwhelmed. Some laughs but not as many as I’d hoped. Wish they’d get back to spy stuff - a private investigation firm in LA just doesn’t have the same potential for funny globe-trotting mayhem (and I miss the late, lamented Woodhouse). Has Archer lost its magic touch from the first season or two?

Oh it’s definitely gotten worse over the years, though I think season 7 was a rebound from the true nadir that season 5 (Archer Vice). I too miss the spy stuff, though I think the main issue has been the Flanderization of the cast. I liked Ray a lot more in the first season when I thought he was another spy at the agency, good at his job, instead of the gay stereotype who exists only to be continuously injured.

“Child, please…nobody’s that gay…”
