With the terrible tragedy brought upon the Gulf Coast of the United States by Hurricane Katrina, has there been any statements by Al-Qaeda, the Taliban and other similar groups, praising the destruction? It sounds like something they’d do!
I don’t know. Our Katrina is nothing compared to the Tsunami last year - and way, way more Muslims were killed by that than Americans by the hurricaine.
Don’t mention it to any Al Qaeda men you might meet though. I don’t think they’d be interested in arguing logic with you.

Pat Robertson has publicly prayed for God to strike Disney World with disasters in judgment for “Gay Day,” but when Hurricane Charley hit Orlando last year, I don’t recall him gloating. (Of course, Disney World only had to shut down for a day or two, so maybe he didn’t think it worth mentioning.)
If it turns out that God is sending hurricanes in response to the prayers of the Taliban and AlQ, I’m going to have to rethink a lot of my positions. Just about all of them, come to think of it.
Since the OP is asking only whether radical Islamists have praised the hurricane, this thread probably belongs in GQ. It requires an answer, not a debate.

This is what I found with a quick/lazy look at Al Jazeerah.
MSNBC has reported an AL Qaeda website that attributes Katrina to the wrath of Allah towards America. Not on the MSNBC website yet, though.
And yet, that is precisely what it’s being compared to.
I’m kind of hoping that the comparison relates to the destructive power of nature, and not to loss of life. If it were the latter, nasty as Katrina is, the comparison would be obscene.
However 700+ people also died crossing a bridge on their way to some tomb in Iraq so score one more for the Judeo-christian God. BOOYA!!

There were people calling in to the Mike Trivisano radio show on WTAM in Cleveland yesterday praising Katrina for wiping out New Orleans. These were fundemental Christians who see New Orleans as a new Sodom ir something. As one person said,and this isas near a quote as I can recall–“They practice voodoo and celbrate Mardi Gras Down there.” I guess all the other places that were hit are irrelevant to there people.
