So where are the extreme fundies...

…saying that obviously New Orleans was destroyed because it’s a haven for sin, and debauchery?

It was only a few days before someone was yelling about last year’s tsunami was a result of that region’s sin and not being Christian. The first thing I thought of when I heard Katrina was on the way to New Orleans was “Oh great, now we have to deal with people saying it was the wrath of God…” Surely Fred Phelps and everyone haven’t actually grown a conscious? Or have they just not thought of it, and now I’m feeding them a terrible idea. Maybe I shouldn’t hit submit.
Oops, too late.

Well, neither godhatesfags nor godhatesamerica appears to have been updated recently, but I’m sure they will be.

Nope. And they probably haven’t grown a conscience, either.

They’ll be here soon enough, and you’ll be here to give them the attention they’re so desperately seeking.

Well, the hurricane did hit just before Southern Decadence so you just know Freddie Kruger^H^H^H^H^H^H Phelps is going to have something to say about it.

Pat Robertson might have been good for something like this, but he’s likely keeping his mouth shut lately after getting a public shellacking on that assassination thing.

No, see, what I meant was…um. That they…grew conscious. Like, you know…woke up. Yeah, that’s it.

Somehow, I don’t think that Freddie and the gang are sitting around going, “OH MAN! People are mentioning us on message boards on the internet! This is exactly what we wanted!”

News coverage, on the other hand…

Yeah, but I’m pretty sure that whore will take what he can get.

Maybe they grew couscous.

I wouldn’t count on it.

No, not from The Sterile Couscous

I’ve seen a lot about religious groups metioned in the news articles I’ve been reading. Mainly about relief charities trying to help the victims.

My hunch is they’re in queue, but are currently being overshadowed & drowned out by the hot air coming from the global-warming doomsday crowd.

Jews are responsible for hurricanes. How? Secret Jew magic! Spells concocted by devout orthodox New York Jews to publish unobservant Florida Jews.

Gays are responsible for tornadoes? How? Angry God! Where ever you find a tornado a queer is queening it up nearby.

Well, CNN is already shoveling blame in Bush’s direction.

Some snarky comment was made about the La. National Guard being on duty in Iraq and unavailable. There are 8000 NG still in Louisiana, plus Texas is standing by to aid if needed.

I wonder how long it will be before Bush is blamed for causing the hurricane.

Well, I’m sure that all those explosions and heavy armament fire have upset the delicate balance of the Iraqi desert eco-system and you know how sensitive the global climate is.
Nah… I got nothin’…

Plus, the hurricane also hit and destroyed Southern Alabama and Southern Mississippi. That area isn’t exactly a gay Mecca and both states went solidly for Bush.

How about this?

I don’t get their logic…ten isn’t that many. Why not Michigan (36), Ohio (20), or North Carolina (16)? What about Texas and their 47? 30 in Jersey, 21 in Pennsylvania, and so on.

Not to mention that Mississippi has only one remaining “death camp” (in the words of their source), and the storm turned and hit them harder.

That image of it looks more like an octopus to me. Maybe God’s message was “Stop killing octopuses!”

Well actually…on the message board I visit to keep track of just this sort of thing I’ve seen two phenomenons.

The first being general condemnation by most people of anyone suggesting that it’s the wrath of god. And specific condemnation by the board itself, locking threads and threatening to ban anyone who does suggest it; “in an effort to be compassionate to those who are affected by Hurricain Katrina”. They didn’t feel any need for similar compassion for the tsunami victims. Apparently too many Christians were affected this time.

The other phenomenon, amoung those who want to call it god’s judgement, seems to be not that it’s a hot bed of vice but…wait for it…it’s punishment for us supporting the pullout in the Gaza strip.

You just never know how the fundie mind is going to work.
