Are there any movies you can watch over and over and never tire of them?

My first approach for such a thing would be to use the keyword movie* (the * is a wildcard to pick up movies) and stay with Cafe Society and limit the search to threads with at least 20 replies. That may get you a good starting point.

You could modify the next search based on what sort of list you get.

Jaws
Aliens
The Hunt For Red October
The Matrix
The Shawshank Redemption (only because it’s always on one channel or another and I always watch some or the rest of it when I run across it)
A Few Good Men

The Princess Bride

Oh yeah, and Groundhog Day.

Big Trouble In Little China
Silverado
The Fifth Element
A Christmas Story

The Quiet Man
The Godfather plus the DeNiro bits of Godfather II
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Kelly’s Heroes
LA Confidential
The Usual Suspects
Apocalypse Now
Blazing Saddles
Caddyshack
Galaxy Quest
Ronin

And the guilty pleasure of Starship Troopers

Sorry. I put it into the wrong section. But, after all, res ipsa loquitur!

Oh. Modify the next search. I forgot about that capability.

I thank you very much.

It’s a Wonderful Life
Mighty Joe Young
(1949)
The Time Machine (1960)
Li’l Abner
Around the World in 80 Days
The Three Stooges Go around the World in a Daze
Damn Yankees
Journey to the Center of the Earth
12 Angry Men
The Caine Mutiny
Who Done It?
(Abbot & Costello, 1941)
Dragnet (1954)
Dragnet (1967)
Run Silent, Run Deep
Any Marx Brothers movie except for The Big Store

P. S. You should allow for: Movies you’ve seen only once and wish you could see again.

A Few Good Men
Casablanca
Rebecca - Joan Fontaine
The Uninvited - Ray Milland
Double Jeopardy - Ashley Judd
Groundhog Day (Anyone else see the irony of this one?)

Upon further reflection, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure might make the cut. But then, I’m a loner, OP. A rebel. You don’t want to get mixed up with a guy like me.

The Big Lebowski
Clerks
Escanaba in da Moonlight

The Big Lewbowski
O Brother Where Art Thou?
Pee Wee’s Big Adventure
Terminator 2
Groundhog Day
Pulp Fiction
Goodfellas
Smokey and the Bandit

I had two other thoughts about how to locate other older threads on the general topic.

– 1) Use Google or Yahoo! searches on “SDMB movies multiple watch” (or similar words). I just did that and got these hits:

Do you watch movies more than once?

Movies worthy of repeat viewing

– 2) Look over the list of people posting for “repeat offenders” and do searches on their posting history for similar thread titles.

If others reading this thread have other ideas that produce other lists of threads, maybe posting links here could serve for future use. In any case it might serve as a start for a major project. SDMB could use a comprehensive index. I’ve been saying that for years!

*Zombieland
The Matrix
Die Hard
Pitch Black
Dark City
True Lies
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Star Trek
V for Vendetta
To Have and Have Not
The Big Sleep
The Empire Strikes Back
Just One of the Guys
Tremors
Groundhog Day
Quick Change
The Ninth Gate
Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events
Terminator 2
First Blood
The Princess Bride
*

A Knight’s Tale
Rocky Horror Picture Show
LOTR Trilogy
Jurrassic Park Trilogy
All of Me
Original 3 Star Wars

Seeing all of me reminds me of another: LA Story. Though I recently noticed they updated the cover/poster - originally it just had Steve Martin on skates, now they’ve superimposed SJP in front of him. She’s flat-out adorable in the movie, but that’s lame, like when they removed Nancy Travis’ axe in So I Married An Axe Murderer.

Some of mine:
The Wizard of Oz
Blazing Saddles
Meet Me In St. Louis
Twister

Did anyone mention Groundhog Day yet?

Touch of Evil
Young Frankenstein
2001 Space Odyssey
Badlands

Excellent!
