Oh, come on…you would have to be part of the conversation, gigi…you are by far the most traditional Catholic I have noticed on the board…you taught me something about Confession just today!
It WOULD be fun to join that group for a chat…and throw in Polycarp, too…for a non-Catholic, he sure understands a lot about Church doctrine!
The interesting thing is that until I saw the “Non-American Dopers” thread, I had no idea there was ANYONE else from Queensland on these boards, much less something like five of them!
I vaguely kicked around the idea of organising an informal get together for SDMB posters in South-East Queensland, but unfortunately it would seem the likelihood of a large group of attractive, morally flexible woman showing up was, well, zero- and besides, any gathering calling itself a “Dopefest” and taking place outside the Northern NSW town of Nimbin is almost certain to attract unwanted attention from either the authorities or people looking for a recreational buzz…
Now this idea I like…
I have noticed **Equipoise **a bit lately and she seems like she would be interesting to meet and Bambi Hassenpfeffer has been one of my favorite people on the board for a while now due more to his general demeanor than any one or number of posts. I’d also really like to meet **Tamryne **and almost got the chance a couple months ago but wasn’t able to in the end. More’s the pity.
Thank you! Wow, I opened the thread, and I rarely post in MPSIMS, because I really wanted to put in Eve’s name. I never thought I’d be mentioned once, let alone twice. I’m a hothead, a drive-by poster, and an all-around flake. But I’m nice, moreso in person than online, and I like cats and movies and music, which makes me not all bad. I like your taste in music. I’d love to sit you down and play you things. Here! Listen to this. Have you heard this artist? I have to play you this one song. You mean you’ve never heard…? Oh wait, let me dig out something by them… and so on.
I’m very curious about what you’ll think of my shows, rather, the music in my shows (since it’s not about me at all, it’s about the music). No pressure, since I know you have a ton of music to catch up on, but when you get a chance…
Wow. I would have gotten out of bed today anyway, but this certainly made it worth it.
As for me, I have a feeling I could spend eternity listening to Qadgop telling stories. I wouldn’t mind travelling the Trans-Siberian Railway with Eva Luna. I’d like to have a beer and an amiable chat about politics with Sam Stone or Bricker. I don’t know exactly what I and Skald the Rhymer would do, but no matter what, it’d be fun.
I’m sure there are like a dozen that I’ve forgot. There’s also a handful that I won’t mention to avoid turning this into a dating thread.

If I’d hit the Powerball this weekend, I would have considered travelling the world meeting Dopers. It’s still one of my favorite fantasies. Gigi, I’ve wanted to meet you for a while, along with What Exit, WhyNot, and Sarahfeena among our newer members. Baker’s been high on my list for years, as has been the eminently dateable Bosda di Tricor, ArrMatey!, and the badly misnamed NoClueBoy.
Oh, great! I’m scrolling through this thread and realizing that, as usual, I’m going to forget a ton of people. Not **Anaamika ** and Anastaseon, though. Or **Tripler ** or Cuahtemoc, whose name I always misspell in these threads. FinnAgain, I’m sorry I missed you at this year’s Gettysdope, but maybe next year? EleanorRigby, EddyTeddyFreddy, MissPurl McKnittington, whose name I’ve probably botched, Eva Luna and **CarlyJay ** are also on my list. Fetus, the more I see of you, the more I like you and would like to meet you. As for you, **Hentor the Barbarian ** and VetBridge, I gather you two gentlemen are somewhere in my neck of the woods. Meeting you two would be easy.
I’d add QtM, but everyone wants to meet him along with Elfbabe. **Mangetout ** I hope I do get to meet next time I get to England, and if I ever get to New Zealand, while I will want to see the scenery, meeting **Ice Wolf ** will be a higher priority.
I know I’ve forgotten a ton of people, but if I mentioned everyone, this post would be even longer than my usual ones. There are some absolutely terrific people around here, and it’s a pleasure knowing you.
You know what would be cool? Buy a big tour bus and just pick up Dopers along the way, the crowd getting bigger and bigger as you wander the continent.
Or a private plane, to take it international.

Um, actually, he is a Catholic, just not Roman Catholic. When he goes to church, he professes a belief in one holy, catholic and apostolic church, just as you, the Lutherans and the Orthodox Christians do.
That can be argued, but in common usage the distinction would be between Anglican and Catholic.
These are the terms I commonly hear, as well. Certainly meant no offense to Polycarp, and I am (fairly) sure that he would not refer to himself as Catholic. (Polycarp, if you see this, correct me if I am wrong.)
