If so, are they sold in other countries ? I have not seen them in New Zealand, Australia, Japan or Cambodia or in Europe (although I was only in Europe for 4 months)
Just wondering…where are you?
As for me, I loves me some Twinkies. I’m not familiar with Ring Dings.
Twinkies, Ringdings, Hostess Cupcakes, etc. are all popular. I believe they are less popular than they were in earlier years, but they are all still popular in the USA.
Jim
They’re exceptionally popular. Especially in my house.
And I still want a damn cupcake.
They are pretty popular although not in my house. If you mean that whole class of packaged desserts from honeybuns to Ding Dongs, then I would say that they are pretty popular.
Twinkies are probably the most well known and seem to half a shelf life of several generations so many people have them sitting in their house.
The U.S.A. leads the world in the obesity epidemic. What do you think?
Twinkies are great after being dunked in coffee, I won’t eat them otherwise.
When I lived in New York, I used to love Drake’s Ring Dings, Yodels, Yankee Doodles, Apple Pies and Coffee Cakes. I was never as fond of Hostess products.
Here in Texas, I can buy all the Hostess products, but Drake’s stuff isn’t readily available. I always bring a box of Ring Dings (just like Ding Dongs, only good) back whenever I go home.
Twinkies: the best damn snack-cake EVER.
If I could eat one every day and not grow to the size of a house, I would.
Sonova…
I want a damn Twinkie now.
We went to the RenFaire in Manheim last summer. They had battered, deep-fried Twinkies.
Just sayin’…
In New Zealand,Australia, Japan, many parts of Europe McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut,Burger King are everywhere. Not to mention non-food American companies being in these countries.
I have lived for a long time in New Zealand ,Australia and Japan. I have never seen a Twinkie in my life except on TV or internet. Or ring-dings,Drakes coffee cake,Junior mints etc etc. According to Wikipedia five hundred million twinkies are produced each year.
If KFC can conquer these countries why not Hostess?
USA may be #1 for Obesity but Australia is in line for silver medal.
I’ve not seen Twinkies on general sale here anywhere although there are some specialist US-style shops that sell them. I’ve never heard of the other things.
I think I saw Twinkies on sale for a while here many, many years ago. Soon after that Twinkie case. They didn’t last long.
Twinkies are especially good at defeating supervillians. So are fruit pies.
True-- they’re pratcically indestructible.
I haven’t eaten one since high school after I used one in a science experiment. I put an unwrapped Twinkie outside on my window ledge and observed it over the next couple of weeks. The sun did not fade its cheerful yellow, nor did the rain deminish it, and the birds and bugs woud have nothing to do with it.
I had intended to keep it out there for three weeks, but I started to get a little creeped out by its resiliency and retrieved it after only two weeks. The Twinkie looked much the same as it had the day I put it out there. I threw it out in the trash, but wondered if I should have buried it in hallowed ground with a stake through its creamy heart instead.
After that, I was sort of put off by the notion of eating something that was rejected as food by vermin.
I once had a treat sensation that very few have ever had the chance to enjoy. While in high school, a marketing class I was in took a field trip to a local bakery that made products for national companies such as Hostess and Nabisco. During the tour we were each given a Twinkie cake that was fresh out of the oven and had not been injected with the cream filling. The cake melted in your mouth, much like a fresh Krispy Kreme donut you get while waiting in line at your favorite KK. I haven’t eaten a Twinkie in years and frankly, I don’t think I have missed a thing.
Twinkies being such a staple food during the Renaissance…
I used to like Twinkies but at last review of the label they aren’t vegetarian. Little Debbies Swiss Rolls, on the other hand, are quite delicious and cruelty-free.
About as staple as dragon shoulder puppets, stage hypnotists, Chinese food kiosks and human chess sets…
People at the Renfaire were eating human chess sets?!
