Arrow - Season 3 Thread

I wonder if Thea actually stayed to watch the conversation from a distance after she was set loose. Somehow I don’t think that finding out that 1. Her brother is the Arrow and 2. He basically(if inadvertently) sold her out to Ninja Girl will do much for her trust issues.

You said it.

Anyone else getting a bad feeling that Thea killed Sara?

I know she supposedly just got back to town, but so supposedly did Malcolm, and he’s been with her yet still had people tracking him to Starling so maybe they were in town before… I dunno…

The show kind of fucked with the viewers, because the voice we heard before Sara died was Arrow’s voice.

I’ve actually been kind of puzzled about how Ollie is disguising his voice while speaking as “Arrow”. That voice is not like the gravelly growl we’ve heard in Batman movies. It sounds digitally processed. Yet, while speaking as Ollie, he’ll get a phone call and switch to “Arrow” voice, as if he’s doing the voice change naturally. It’s one of the few things that have “taken me out of the scene” in this show.

Yeah, Diggle doesn’t wear a mask or disguise his voice on missions, but Arrow and sidekick do. Because?

But I’d still rail her.

And I bet no one will ever call her on it, then punch her in the face repeatedly, as they should do. I do hope both Oliver and Roy will bitch when they find out.

I think they make it fairly clear he has a switch to turn it on and off. He always presses it when he needs to turn on the voice disguiser thing. Presumably there’s a small mic in his hood. As for the phone, I think it’s just built in. It looks like he uses the same phone for Oliver Queen and the Arrow, but he must have two different phone numbers, and presumably calling 1-800-ARROWB (the “b” is for “bargain”) means you automatically get the business voice.

She was on The Flash last week and we got “The Secret Origins of Felicity Smoak” on Arrow this week. Everyone’s crazy about Felicity! And rightly so.

A good episode–nice getting a little bit of background on Miss Smoak. The flashback showing her with dark hair made something click for me–Emily Bett Rickards’ face reminds me a little bit–just a little bit–of a younger Shawnee Smith.

Anyhow, her mom was not what I would have expected. I liked their story arc through the episode, and it had a nice conclusion. Dad is still a mystery…

Still waiting for the other shoe to drop with regard to Brandon Routh’s character.

So, the ending with Roy’s dream/memory… Whoa! That’s going to make things awkward! Any guesses what happened? Some kind of mind control? After-effects of the mirakuru drug?

Diggle has started wearing a hoodie and face mask. Not sure if that will evolve into a (non-canonical) costume or note.

I’m happy with the Felicity-centric stuff. She orbits in that zone of shockingly beautiful/cute as a button/nonstop body (mainly, NOT too thin anywhere) and I can watch her be a goof all day.

There were two or three egregious errors in the last episode. The super-watch? The one that “chimes on the hour”? Damn thing’s broken, since it read 8:43 when it beeped. And near the end, there was a telling shot when Oliver let go of the drawn bowstring… and it just sagged in an arc. I am not surprised that some of the bows have permanently-drawn shapes, to make it easier to hold in “draw” take after take, but that was a sloppy film edit. There was one other, but it escapes me at the moment.

My assumption from Roy’s flashback is that he was realizing he had been mind-controlled. Some posters over on the AV Club seemed to think that he was starting to get flashbacks to having killed an innocent cop while on Mirakuru and was thus having nightmares about killing his friends.

In any case, definitely a fun episode, if predictable at times. Felicity is such a great character.

That was a fun episode. I don’t even mind laurel “training really hard” and becoming a super. It kinda works.

Roy has been having trouble getting enough sleep and now that vision. Hm. Interesting.

Diggle decided to start wearing a mask during missions. That makes it less silly when only Arrow runs around with one. Now give Diggle a costume. He deserves one.

That vision was seriously weird. Why would Roy be throwing arrows at Sara? would that even work now that he doesn’t have powers?

I wonder if Mirakuru people end up with some sort of mental link, and just as a totally made up example, a strong person currently being held in an underground prison on some random pacific island could temporarily control a younger, less experienced Mirakuru user to, for instance, exact some revenge?

Katie Cassidy (Laurel) as BC:

Guess that leaves us with Q. Lance (and baby Sara) as the only normal (Felicity’s hacking is arguably a super power)

Brian

Aw, no fishnets?

I didn’t know Laurel was already known to be Black Canary. I didn’t read the comics. I always figured she’d eventually “train really hard” and become a super though. Doesn’t everyone?

In the TV series it was initially her sister Sara (though the sonic thing was a device and not her voice, and not used much). I think everyone assumed she would become BC (it was even more obvious lately).

Brian

So who is that cupid lady? Is she someone I would have heard of if I read lots of DC comics?

Yes she is

Given his own body count, am I the only one who thinks Ollie was a tad hypocritical about Wildcat’s one(and not even that) casualty during his vigilante days?

“But he killed someone!!! That’s wrong!!!”

So did you, numbnuts, or have you forgotten the whole first season?

This episode was too rushed. I think I killed Sara! You obviously did! I was your side kick and then I was tortured and now I hate you! Okay!

How many people has Ollie killed? Seriously guys, killing people is no biggie in this show. It’s a little late now to get all moral and vowey.
