Artists -- art lovers -- MADS -- eccentrics of all stripes...

Thanks, Anita! I might take you up on that, though it would mean going in the wrong direction all the way to the other side of the system. I’m at Takoma, so it would probably be over an hour to Springfield. Not so bad, if BlueKangaroo is coming with. Could you take both of us? (Or do you have other plans for getting there, Blue?)

Ahhhhhh! :smack: It finally dawned on me after seeing her comments on another MB that Blue Kangaroo was thinking about taking the MARC train to Balmer. I’ve never used MARC, so it didn’t even cross my mind. So could moi pick me up? If we stay in Balmer with moi and tdc afterwards, how late do the trains run? And how early are you going, Blue? Maybe we could still ride together and I could hang out with moi while you crochet.

I wish I could make this one, but there’s just no way. I’ve got a couple other things going on this weekend, plus I’m still getting over the tail end of last week’s flu, and desperately need rest. Have a great time, and I’ll catch you all at the next one!

Whether or not I can pick you up, AlanSmithee, has to do with whether or not I have the car; I’ll work on that tonight.

My understanding is that you and BK would only need to take the train to Bawlmer. You’d have rides back post-gaming.

So what’s the exact plan here? Meet at 1:00 in front of the museum, got that… but after, are we going to eat or something?

Blue Kangaroo was planning to be at my place beforehand. If someone is commuting with her, no problem.

For all those people talking about the MARC train, you should know that this service only runs on weekdays. The only train service available on weekends is Amtrak.

I think the exact plan is to play it by ear. Thems as wants to will go out to eat after – we’ll be relying on your Bawlmorians to recommend a good place.

Ah, this no MARC is quite the spanner in the works.

On restaurants…across the street, the Rusty Scupper is s’okay, but the museum’s restaurant, Joy America Café, comes highly recommended. Both offer great views of the Harbor.

moi, my ride status will depend on whether I’m alone or not… you know what I mean. If not, there will probably be some room in the car.

From the last time I was at the AVAM, I don’t think picture taking was allowed. Joy America looked nice, but way overpriced. Rusty Scupper is pretty fancy, and kind of pricey. There are many other more reasonable places in Federal Hill, depending on the hour.

The Rusty Scupper costs a meeeellion dollars.

Right! Because Kangaroo in Black will have the truck then! (So gaming is definitely on, then? Good!)

Thanks, Ginger. It would be nice to ride with BK for the company, if she’s not coming too early. I am a big boy, however, so I can always get to Bawlmer on my own.

Amtrak is about $16 to Penn Station, which is doable if we don’t eat somewhere that costs a meeeellion dollars. Is that still your plan, Blue Kangaroo?

I don’t mind going elsewhere in Baltimore if there’s someplace good where we can get out for under a meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelion dollars.

I hear Bawlmer has two or three more restaurants. If everyone has transportation, there’s no reason we can’t go anywhere in the city. I’ll have room for three or four extras, depending on Dave (if he makes a work appointment, it takes precedence).

Heh. Who knew my tastes were so expensive? Actually, the only time I was at Joy America for a full meal, someone else picked up the tab; I’ve been there and Rusty Scupper for drinks and appetizers, though. My main thought was to come up with a restaurant where we didn’t have to worry about (1) navigating people unfamiliar with the city to another location and (2) struggling for parking when we got there.

Stop trying to be helpful. We should just all come back up to Dundalk, there’s a GREAT Italian place near here.

OR

Everyone comes here afterward, pot luck.

Oops. Forgot the

Good thing you mentioned that, Ginger. I’m such a delicate, easily offended flower.

Thanks for the potluck invite, Ginger – but that starts turning into a whole logistical “thing” for transportation, food, etc. I’m not sure that’s a good idea so close to the day.

What I was thinking was somewhere where we could all just get sandwiches (or crabcakes) or whatever – neighborhood tavern type place, maybe? – on the inexpensive side for those of us on budgets – that won’t freak out if 10 or 20 people show up unannounced for an early supper. Is there anywhere like that at all convenient to where we’re going to be?

The only places I know of are on the other side of the harbor in Fells Point or Canton. There’s a large parking lot across from the And the Horse You Rode In On saloon, and a pretty good restaurant right around the corner from that.
