Dances, has tdc ever told you of our adventures in the Horse? chuckles evilly
Honestly, I don’t know anything right around where we’re going to be. I do know of a pretty good place straight up Charles Street, called the Stable. And, a fantastic Italian place about halfway between our place and the museum (about a ten minute drive from the museum, and not at all hard to find). It’s not snooty Italian, you can get subs and whatnots there as well, but they seem pretty group friendly. Each time we’ve been there, there have been large groups. We’ve also been there while there was a piano player.
No, but I’m more than willing to hear the tale of your misadventures.
Ginger – I consider a 10 or 15 minute drive “in the area,” and the Italian place sounds great. I’ll leave it to someone else to come in and make snotty remarks about oregano.
Do you think I should warn them?
Warn them? Well, we’re not sure how many, and we’re not sure when – maybe call and see if they need to be warned or not? Or shall we ask people to indicate general interest in eating after when they do their roll-call check-ins today and tomorrow?
Speaking of which, my current understanding of who’s coming is:
FairyChatMom and FairyChatDad
twickster
danceswithcats
GingerOfTheNorth, Weirddave and the weirdlets
av8rmike
BlueKangaroo
AnitaVacation
TwoTrouts
finette6
moi
engineer_comp_geek and the lovely Mrs. Geek
Scuba Ben
mhendo
Alan Smithee
Rock n Roach
which by my count is 18 adults and two kids. Pls. post if you need to be added to or subtracted from that list!
BTW, I’m hitching a ride with Scuba Ben, who I think is better known to the MADs, making ID a little easier.
I will be accompanied by my wife, She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed.
honk
Make that 19 adults, two kids, and three hard-boiled eggs.
Well? Who’s up for eating? I have their menu in front of me, and their prices range from around $5 for a sub, to around $20 for Beef Tenderloin. They have a pretty varied menu.
Twenty adults. As of yesterday, I won’t be coming alone.
Whose menu, Ginger? Joy America’s?
I was still thinking it made more sense to go someplace in Federal Hill, but regardless, we should probably call ahead for such a big group.
It’s called Vinny’s Cafe. No web presence, damn it all. BUT, it’s off the end of 895 up my way, so it’s only as difficult to get to as it is to get to 895 from Key Highway. Which is not at all.
Food is as good as Amicci’s. And cheaper. And nearish to us, so if anyone wants to hang out after, it’s just a few minutes more.
I think you should go ahead and call them; tell them your current guess is 20 people (maybe fewer) around 3:30 or 4:00. After we get more people checking in (i.e., when we have a better idea of who’s likely to go), you can give them a better number Saturday morning.
FWIW, I think I’m in – but as I said upthread, Scuba Ben is driving, so he’s got the final say.
I’m a definite, my other half is wavering, so I don’t know if i’ll be alone or accompanied, but since we’ve got plenty to get the group rate, I won’t badger him.
Oh yeah, I’m back from Houston and I survived and I met 4 faboo Dopers and one very cute and very quiet Daughter of a Doper. And I’m most definitely looking forward to meeting more of you. If I remember, FairyChatMoose will accompany me so I can get more signatures in her traveling diary.
See ya Saturday!!
Yes, but did you get pix of the armadillo?
I took a couple of pics, but it was dark and rainy, and neither came out. What cracked me up was when all the natives expressed amazement that they’d never noticed it before!!
Geek child #2 has decided to join us as well.
Pass up a Doper dinner? Perish the thought!
I’m in. Twickster and I will be joining y’all for dinner.
Oh yes, honk and one duck egg.
Actually, my wife and I will probably not be joining you all for dinner. We need to be down in Rockville by 6 PM for another swim meet.
And … Vy a duck? Vy not a chicken?
My spousal unit’s presence is still undeterminate. He’ll decide on Sat morning. So we shall see what we shall see. But you shall see me in red - red fleece jacket and red hat, and probably red gloves. And a moose. But she’s white.
I will call the restaurant today. I’ll reserve for 15.
