As if Jesse (the Body) wasn't enough

As if our govenor wasn’t annoying enough, we now have a state legislator protesting an upcoming vist by the Dalai Lama because he’s ‘anti-Christian’.

sigh

I’m moving

Also, from a different article, some more words of wisdom from the cough legislator:

chique, Linder’s an a-hole.

He’s one of those guys who believes that there is only one religion, and anybody who does not have the same beliefs as he, is a heathen and threrfore ticketed for hell.

He believes in spreading his gospel, but doesn’t like anybody spreading theirs, especially if it is different than his.:wally

[sub]please don’t move[/sub]

So, it’s this guy who gives the ole U.S. a bad name, eh? Okay, so maybe there are a few others. Yeah, chique, I’m with you–get the fuck out of that state. I’m a fucking atheist and I’d bow to that man. It’s fucking idiots like this which defy the best flames. One simply can’t put such terms into words.

why are we prone to stupidity?

Arghh. Where the fuck does this sort of bullshit come from? So now everybody who doesn’t agree with Christianity is a member of a “cult”. I wonder how this guy would react if somebody refered to Christianity s a “cult”?

Further proving that letting religion control every aspect of your life is idiotic.

I assume you all saw this story:

http://www.accessatlanta.com/partners/ajc/epaper/editions/sunday/local_news_a3be6a15f17d60e600ac.html

A synopsis:

A public high school in Marietta, Georgia, was looking for an auditorium for a supplemental ceremony for their high school graduation. The chapel of a local Methodist church was offered for free. Only problem was, that for their baccalaureate address, they chose a Reform rabbi from the community.

The minister of the church refused to yield his pulpit to a Jew for this non-denominational ceremony (but religious ceremony). If he let a Jew speak, he would have to open the pulpit to Wiccans, Buddhists, and Pagans. So the graduating class had to go rent the Civic Center for a few thousand dollars instead of having it at the church for free.

Maybe a good GD topic in the making…

Nice. Link broken. vBulletin is giving me problems trying to fix it…This space does not appear in my coding.
Mods? Anyway, there is no space between the a and the c in the URL:

“Kill the unbeliever!”

As opposed to the mountain of incontrovertable evidence that Jesus was the True Son of God. Hey, maybe they take reincarnation on faith?

No, who would take something so unlikely on faith?

And given that Buddhism predates Christianity by about 500 years (although, admittedly, not Judaism), I would think the Buddhists might have a stronger case for asserting that Christianity is a cult than the other way around. And of course Buddhism was promoting love and tolerance long before Christ – but as this guy seems to have missed that part of his own religion he’s obviously not going to see it in someone else’s…

jr8, my hat goes off to you!

And how did this freak get elected? Is Minn/St Pau THAT consevative? What the hell?
Wow, I’ve been out of the country for WAY too long.

I really wish we could edit our posts after we submit them, dammit!

And BTW, what does define a set of beliefs as a “cult” anyway? Is it just someone else’s say so?

Minneapolis/St Paul on the whole isn’t THAT conservative. After all, we were the only state to vote for good ol’ Democrat Mondale back in 1984 … but, of course, when talking about the state legislature, you will get small pockets of tightly-knit communities that manage to elect a legislator that is very far to the right or left.

OK.

And just where do you think is any better?

Hint: idiots are universal.

Cool – is this one of those hats with the helicopter and grappling hook and magnifying glass and everything?

[sub]Well I just assumed, what with the name and all…[/sub]

Thanks for putting this out here, I was going to put a pit rant out on the same thing. However, no time…

“Burn the heretic!” is so much better sounding, though.

What a maroon. This guy is two letters past a cult.
