Are we going to find out who our secret Santa is after Christmas or will it remain a secret?
I think we should only know who we are buying for… not who is buying for us. Then after Christmas we could have the Official Secret Santa list revealed and we will all talk about what we got and thank the buyer… or scold him/her… or maybe sue…
How about we just have a thread to discuss it, with all gifts coming from Santa? Thereby any unpleasant surprises are all HIS fault, sparing anyone from being publicly identified and possibly shot.
However, people could claim responsibility if the reaction was favorable.

If everyone wishes, though, I have no qualms unveiling the ‘official’ match list after everything has been recieved, or, keeping it all secret until the day I overdo… die.

I still think we need to put a price limit. That’ll save some feelings if someone buys a $50 gift and gets a $5 gift. I’m not saying that anyone would get upset but it would help to know what everyone else is doing.

A note to whoever gets me:
The riotous, raunchy sense of humor that runs through the SDMB is what keeps me coming back for more.
HOWEVER, being a married female with small children, I request a G-rated gift. My husband isn’t as “in” to the SDMB as I am, and if I were to get something wildly X-rated, especially if my Secret Santa turns out to be male, he’d be a little disturbed.
I enjoy reading and crafts, so a gift certificate to a bookstore or a craft store (we’ve got Borders & Michael’s here) would be really, really nice, and something I would definitely get a great deal of pleasure from.
Do something like that, and I can buy myself some X-rated reading material, or make myself something raunchy.
I have no problem purchasing something X-rated for whomever I get, though!

Secret Santa! Great idea, Homer. I love it! Of course, I’m in. This would be soooo cool. Email will be on the way to you shortly.
As for me: I don’t really care what rating, as long as it comes wrapped so that my daughter doesn’t get any ideas.
Some suggestions: I love purple; any stuffed critters especially bears, cats and bunnies; miniature anything; surprise me on the X stuff, if that’s what someone wants to do; reading, especially sci-fi, fantasy and motivational; I sew, quilt, and do counted cross stitch and many other crafts; and I love plants and flowers.
I’d say a good man, but I already have a great one.
He’s just too far away from me right now.
