Considering none of you seem to believe I am a real person and think I am an internet troll by the same identity as this ‘Umkay’, I may as well take advantage of the situation, I am going to let you low lifes build a picture of my life in the same mundane fashion as in the 20 pages of Umkay threads.
Go on ask away, but I won’t answer if the questions are too personal.
What aspect of being paraplegic is the hardest to deal with?
Do you ever just get used to it, and not miss being as mobile as people who aren’t?
What things can’t you do? I know with elevators and ramps, people can go up stairs. And I assume with enough upper body strength a person can keep up for miles (probably going longer than many walkers). What limitations do you face that you can’t overcome due to the disability?
Probably the hardest thing to deal with is peoples attitude towards it. I don’t think you can ever get used to it completely, and yes I miss being mobile. Other than stairs I can do pretty much anything an able bodied person can do, it just takes longer to get ready in the morning.
You know, I can’t think of a better way to prevent people from mentally associating you with umkay than by repeatedly trumpeting in every thread “I’M NOT UMKAY!! WHY DO YOU THINK I’M UMKAY??!”
Jaime McGarry, our resident paraplegic. Yeah, I’m calling BS now (not on you Ambivalid).
We have a new paraplegic that has a username oddly similar to an old troll (umkay/jaymac, well, kinda close) and a “real” name that’s extremely close to another paraplegic’s name. Sorry, that’s too much. Pics or it didn’t happen.
