Ask the MMP

{{{swampy}}}

FCM, yeah, I earn something like $25-$30 a month for my consigned efforts. It’s certainly not a living but every bit helps!

Too fancy-schmantzy for us, nu?

I’m sorry, man.

((swampy)))

I’m so sorry.

Oh, I’m so sorry.

{swampy}

Now I’m going to feel bad posting in the thread.

Don’t FlyTrap. I need the silliness and carryin’s on of the Mumpers.

I’m at da cave. Just didn’t feel like stayin’ at irk.

Don’t be ashamed. We’re all nice, dammit, and what is said in the MMP stays on the MMP.
I escaped being poked in the eye with a Big Needle.

I’m sorry, Swampy.

We’re here for you.

I’m so sorry to hear that, my thoughts are with you and Tommy’s family. (((((Swampy)))))

In other news, since it is ask the MMP week - why is that that 3mins into my 30min exercise programme on the Wii, someone will text me when I have forgotten to put my phone on “silent”? That means for the rest of the half-hour programme, the feckin’ phone beeps at me every couple of minutes to remind me I have a text…

**BooFae **- simple answer - you’re losing your mind. Welcome to my world.

The memorial service for Tommy will be Sunday at three p.m. at the church house. I’m kinda surprised about it bein’ on Sunday as funerals are not customarily held on Sunday but I guess the family wanted to go ahead as soon as possible. Really, who could blame 'em.

I went to the sto’ and got some chikin boobs and thighs which are roastin’ away as I post. I’ll use 'em to make chickin sallit to take over for the family. Tommy loved my chikin sallit and so does Glenda. Plus, I know there’ll be all kinds of big eats so I figure sump’n on the lighter side would be nice. Plus also, I just make dang good chikin sallit if’n I do say so myself.
Thanks y’all for all the hugs and kind words. Mumpers be the bestest!

While I was at the sto’ I picked up some smoked poke chops and some fresh asparagus. Poke chops, steamed asparagus, wild rice and rolls for dindin. A yummy meal that won’t take long to make. Always a good thing.

Now for some silliness…

Rosie you spoke French! Speak some more! Voulez Vous! Moulin Rogue! Chercez la femme! You bring out my inner Gomez Addams when you do that.

MOOOOOOM yay for the big bucks!!! When you become famous I can sell my little blue bowl for gazillions of dollars and travel the world!

And some not silliness…

StickyBuns that sucks! I’d call ‘em everyday just to ask if I’m still scheduled for the next appointment. Seriously, I recommend callin’ two or three days before the appointment just to confirm. Might wake somebody up enough they’ll realize you do have an appointment.

Man, I wish I’d thought of that…

Aw swampy, (((hugs))). Tommy’s family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

I could really use a good chicken salad recipe . . .

Hey Taters was the thunder and lightening rolling down your way? It was like a war zone here.

In other news my daughter and family are still here, there have been some delays in closing on their new house, looks like they will be here for at least another three weeks. I love them dearly, but I sure miss my routine.

Nope, no thunder and lightning down here today. I saw pictures on the news. It seems it was more from Renton on north; and I’m down here by Puyallup.

The sun did just finally break free of the clouds though. It sure took awhile to burn off today.

{{swampy}} & {{Tommy’s family}}

I made it home from the wilds of Arkansas and I have caught up on a bunch of random e-mails from this week related to my new PITA project. And now I am going to call it a day and go work out.

Tomorrow I get a haircut and pedicure other than that no real plans for the weekend.

wiki my chikin sallit recipe is not really a recipe, as in, there are no exact measurements. Here goes:

chicken (I usually slow cook or bake though sometimes I use smoked chicken if I have some leftover. Also I prefer both white and dark meat so I use boobs and thighs)

celery (three or four stalks, dependin’ on your celery taste)

onion (I use about a half of a largish onion. Again vary dependin’ on your particular taste)

apple (a couple medium sized granny smith’s. if you like sweeter apples go for it.)

pecans (about three-fourths to a cup of finely chopped pecans. I’m sure other nuts would work as well but bein’ as I am down south I use pee-cans)

grapes (white or red, about a dozen cut in half. if I don’t have grapes on hand I don’t worry about it but seems like most folks like the grapes)

mayo to taste (mix in some, taste, mix in some more, lather, rinse, repeat.

a package of ranch dressing (yeah, I know but it tastes good in chicken salad)

a little grated nutmeg

salt and pepper to taste

Chop up the chicken, celery, onion, apples, pecans and halve the grapes. Mix it all up. Viola! Chikin Sallit!

This is one to play with. Maybe garlic and/or fresh N.O.H. would be good. Go wild!

Sorry about Tommy, swampy. :frowning:

That sucks, Sticky. Is there another practice you could go to? In my view, rescheduling your appointment without telling you is unethical. Have you complained to both the office manager and the doc? I can’t imagine that delaying your treatment is good for you.

Chikin sallit sounds really good, swampy. I’ll add it to the blog in a bit. Also, it sounds similar to the chicken salad at one of our downtown cafés. They add curry; it’s also highly yummerrific.

Home from a rather productive workday. Yay! Took an extra-long lunch and went to the local food truck festival and had a very yummy burger.

Happy weekend, all!

Hugs.

I’m really sorry about Tommy and StickyBun’s knee. What a whole lot of bad news!!

I have good news though.

I got my bill for the fall semester. I had 15 credits and my total bill (after financial aid) was $46.

I decided to drop the class I signed up for because it looked interesting, which brought me down to 12 credits. My theory was that dropping my credits would make my tuition cost less, which would give me some extra financial aid, which I could use to pay for my textbooks.

My new bill, after dropping the class was for $46.
So, I added another class, this time a 4 credit class with a $10 lab fee. Now I have 16 credits.

My new bill is for $56 ($46 plus the new lab fee).
So, I decided to email the bursar. I asked “what gives?”

She told me that full time is 12 credits. After 12 credits they don’t charge tuition to the account.

So I asked, “Does this mean I can take 7 more credits for free (I can take up to 19) or am I missing something?”

She said, "Yes, you can take more classes and you will not be billed for them!
This is super awesome! Strange, but awesome!

So, since I need the class I added and it’s usually a bitch to get into it but I found a spot, I decided to keep the class. I don’t think I’m going to take advantage of the last 3 credits though. I don’t think I can handle 19 credits (including 2 labs and calculus), work study, and a 45 minute commute (each way).

Of course I still haven’t figured out how to pay for my school books. Tupperware pays well, assuming someone actually has a party but no one I know wants to have one and I refuse to hit up strangers in the grocery store like my director does. My job helps with paying my bills so Sweetie doesn’t have to. I’m hoping I can save enough before August 27. I think I’ll only need about $400, which is surprisingly low. Sweetie said he’ll help if I need it but I’m really hoping to get the money myself.

Thanks for all the condolences y’all.

Shortdrum yay for good news! Great you can get those classes without it costin’ more. Weird, but great.

Curry sounds like it’d be good in chikin sallit gt. I shall remember that next batch Imake for cave cosumption. Don’t wanna experiment on the bereaved.
