Asking AI for a post that will make people like me

I asked ChatGPT for the following: “please create a forum post that will make me sound interesting and make other people want to know me.” The result is below.

"Title: A Curious Mind, a Bit of Chaos, and a Love for the Unusual

Hey everyone :waving_hand:

I’m new here and figured I’d break the ice with a little intro.

I’m the kind of person who keeps a dozen tabs open—both in my browser and in my brain. I’m into deep conversations, strange facts, and the kind of humor that makes you pause before laughing. I’ve accidentally turned hobbies into obsessions (ask me about the time I tried to learn five languages at once), and I think there’s something fascinating in pretty much everything—from abandoned architecture to obscure mythology to the mechanics of how dreams work.

I don’t take myself too seriously, but I take people seriously. I love getting to know what makes others tick, so if you’re into sharing weird stories, thought-provoking questions, or just want someone to nerd out with, I’m game.

So… what’s something unexpected about you?"

Did it work? Do I sound interesting, intriguing, and worth calling up and buying a drink?

You’re going to fit in well here.

I asked chat GPT for a response to that and it told me to tell you, “Only 12 tabs? You sound lazy.”

I’ve only got 10 tabs open right now. Now I feel less than. And it’s all your fault.

I asked ChatGPT “Please create a forum post that makes me sound uninteresting and makes people want to avoid getting to know me”. This is what I got. I don’t think it did a very good job of sounding really off-putting.

Title: Just Another Guy Saying Hi

Hey.

I figured I’d make a post since I signed up. Not much to say really. I like things being quiet. I don’t really do much—watch a bit of TV, sometimes just sit around and think about stuff. Don’t like going out. Not a fan of conversations either, so don’t expect quick replies or anything exciting from me.

I’ve had the same dinner every night for years (boiled chicken and plain rice). It’s efficient.

I mostly signed up here because I was bored, but that’s not to say I’m looking to talk to anyone. Just browsing, I guess.

Anyway, that’s it. Not sure why I posted this.

Welcome!

Um… Currently at 87 tabs, spread across four browser windows. Though that’s a little more than is typical for me.

Well, no ain’t buying any drinks. You’re welcome to come here. I’ll find you something to imbibe.

I like the sound of you.
I’ll be glad to welcome you to the Dope, & we can be friends.

See you around the board, new BFF. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Aren’t you happy? Now you know me.

Beck

Of the two, I liked yours better. The other one sounds like a right prat.

If ChatGPT suggested " A Curious Mind, a Bit of Chaos, and a Love for the Unusual"
for the title, why did you go with “Asking AI for a post that will make people like me” ?

I copied your post into an AI program and asked it to write a reply like it was Matt Foley from SNL, but I didn’t post it because then I would just be supporting the dead internet theory.

Just ask about, or tell us, about some food. We all like food. Ask Beck if the flour matters when making biscuits. Stay away from politics, she’s a harsh mistress. .Ask a question about submarines.

Hmmm. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

You funny.

Don’t try making biscuits on submarines. I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed.

What if you started baking the biscuits at depth, would they rise greater along with the surfacing of the submarine?

I tried using Copilot to create a post that would make people avoid me, and it gave me some armchair psychology about how to feel better about myself.

Sounds dull. Please don’t elaborate, or I’ll have to leave.

Thanks, I needed that.

I’ve got over 100 tabs open on just my phone. I stay up at night wondering how to get it down into the 80s.

Interesting that this is AI’s idea of the Most Off-Putting Possible Meal.

I’d have thought, maybe, something involving human flesh. Or at least puppies.

But I guess those things are okay according to our AI masters…

I asked ChatGPT the following: “create a post to keep a dying forum thread going”

And it returned this:

" Subject: Still curious — what do you all think?

Hey everyone!
Just revisiting this thread because it had some great points earlier, and I’d hate to see it fade away. I’ve been thinking more about what was said, especially [insert specific point or user mention if relevant], and I’d love to hear more perspectives. Has anyone had any new thoughts, experiences, or updates since the last post?

Also, if anyone’s lurking and hasn’t chimed in yet — now’s your moment! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Looking forward to hearing more from you all."

I think ChatGPT may have saved this thread!
