No doubt I’ll be banned for this, but check out the exchange below. Does the administrator have the brains and/or guts to just move this to the pit? NO. Even though he says it should be there and the original poster seems to agree with me and not the asshole administrator; he locks it instead of moving it. Note to “manhattan” - Take that lump of coal out of your ass, shine it up and give your girlfriend a new ring. I have a life. You and your 7000+ posts obviously don’t.

Is recess a law?
It seems to me, that school’s now a days keep shortening or getting rid of recess altogether. I heard it was a law that there has to be recess everyday. However, it could be P.E. But what do I know…

I don’t know if it’s a law, but I find it incredibly stupid that the schools are getting rid of recess. These kids have energy that must be burned at some point. If it’s not at recess, it will be in the classroom. Kids are not small adults. We cannot expect them to sit in their seats for several hours at a time. Both they and the teachers need a break once in a while. Better to burn that energy on the playground for a few minutes than in the classroom. Then they wonder why they have disipline problems when Johnny can’t sit still for three-four hours at a time, day after day, week after week. Sorry I’m ranting; since I didn’t really answer your question, but it’s a sore spot with me.

No, do not rant away. This is General Questions. Your hosts, the Chicago Reader, have thoughtfully provided plenty of other places for you to rant, so that you may do so without harshing on people who just want to ask things and learn things without every idiot who has a half-baked opinion jumping in.

Was this Great Debates or General Questions? If the later, rants aren’t allowed in General Questions; it’s for factual answers only, not opinions. Doesn’t matter what the OP thought about your comments, the OP doesn’t run this board. The mods do.

I agree, the OP should have linked instead of copying and pasting the whole thread. My question is, why did Manhattan close the thread over a one incorrectly formatted post? (Is that what happened?) There certainly is a factual answer to the OP’s question. Why couldn’t he have moved it, at least? :confused:

manhattan wasn’t saying this thread belonged in the Pit; he was saying that it belonged somewhere else than GQ, depending on the tenor of the rant. He decided to close it rather than make that call for the posters involved. Damned if I know what the beef is.
