Having just taken delivery of a dining room set, we are finally ready to begin receiving guests. I’m thinking mid-May, like the 8th or 15th, though other dates are up for grabs as well.
We’re out in Lithonia, conveniently located to I-20 and various other roads, and aren’t too terribly far from the Indian Creek MARTA station if anyone needs to use public transport. I’ll email directions to folks once we get a date and other details set.
I’m thinking a potluck type of affair, very casual. We’ll provide one main dish–the husband has suggested my crock-pot lasagna–and soft drinks.
So who’s interested? What dates work for you? Any other suggestions? WHO’S WITH ME HERE?
I’d love to come…the weekend of the 14th, 15th and 16th are out though, we have the Marietta Greek Festival that weekend. You should all try to come if you can. The food it great!
Well, I can’t make it in May. But I’m very glad to see that there’s a doping community in Atlanta because I’ll be moving there at the end of the summer!
I’m going to be doing a fellowship at the CDC, I have no idea where to live, and I don’t really have time to think about it while I wrap things up at my University.
I’ll be posting a thread later, asking for advice about everything. But I’m really very glad to know that there are Dopers in that big, empty city I’ll be moving to by myself.

herownself, if you have a LiveJournal, there are two excellent Atlanta communities (atlanta and ljatlanta) that are a great resource in addition to the SDMB for getting info about the area.
Yea, we’re getting the truck, running around frantically, and hopefully loading it on the 17th to leave on the 18th.
While I have you all here, I have a ton of various books, CDs, and DVDs that 1. I’m trying to sell on Amazon and 2. They’re not selling very much at all. Anyone interested?

I was thinking of red beans qand rice but that might clash with the lasgna. I could bring beer if thats needed.
Our apartment isn’t quite big enough for a full-out rummage sale. There is a big ole dumpster, though, if you wanna leave stuff for the neighbors to pick through.
Red beans and rice would be fine with me; I’m pretty fond of it myself. And thanks for bringing up beer, I forgot to mention that in the OP. We are both non-drinkers, but if anyone wants to bring alcoholic beverages, that’s fine.
