Okay, looks like we have some interest in a get-together, so this will be the thread to post to if y’all wanna meet your fellow Georgia (and surrounding-states) Doper Buds.
I guess we need to give ourselves a little time, so why don’t we start by listing available dates?
Me: The weekends of 8-9 or 8-23.

I might be able to swing 8-23, depending upon where it will be held.
FCM: Would Atlanta be too long a way for you to come?
Also, Labdad (among others) has indicated an interest in us doin’ some pickin’. Does anyone have a big enough place to support entertainment? I live in an apartment, but somehow I don’t see the old battleaxe that is my next door neighbor as allowing us even so much as an accoustic set without calling the cops. Besides, I can just see the looks on my neighbors’ faces when I put up the signs that say Dopers Parking here.
If not Hot’Lanta, then I’m not averse to a little travel. We have enough time to work it out.

Count me in! 8/23 works better for me - we’ll be at the beach on 8/9. Assuming my wife says it’s OK, we could accomodate 15-20 people here for a get together. We can have an accoustic set, Quasi - but no electrics. The houses are just too close together in Decatur. I’ll let you know what Labmom says!

I’ll have to get out the music for one of my favorite accoustic songs: Dead Skunk In The Middle Of The Road (Never can tell: that one may get a lot of requests! ;))

I might be in school or in New Orleans either of those weekends, but I think the 23rd might work better.
My bass is electric. But I don’t have an amp. Can I bum someone’s? I’ll keep it low, cause I’m no good at playin’.
My Galveston bass is a hollowbody that can be played both ways, and actually has a very good accoustic sound. I’ll bring it and you can play it if you wish, GMR. Labdad wasn’t kidding when he said those houses were close together, so I would rather go along with his and LabMom’s wishes in keeping it a totally accoustic set.

23rd sounds great if I still live here! I’ll bring whatever (I love to cook for groups of people) and help with cleanup too. Can’t offer a place as I’m still stuck in a hotel room and even if I were back home, it’s just a little condo. No room at the inn. Sorry!
Okay… 3 definites and 3 maybes for the 23rd and one definite for the 9th from the other thread.
Can we set a deadline of next Monday for everyone to reply with a date?
Also please think about the logistics: Do you want to come into town (wherever “town” may be) on a Friday, meet Friday night, have the hootenanny on Saturday and leave Sunday Morning, or would you rather start everything on Saturday? I’m flexible for the whole weekend including Friday night (The 22nd).

I will be in New Orleans on the 9th of August, so I won’t be able to make it on that date. But if it’s the 22-24thish, I’ll probably be there, assuming I don’t get sunburned or otherwise incapacitated like I did for KnoxDope.

I have no musical talent whatsoever.
However, I think I speak for me when I request that you don’t play any Lynyrd Skynyrd songs at all.
I am waiting on travel arrangements, but I believe I will be flying into Atlanta on August 23, so when I know for sure, I’ll let you know. Because if I am in Atlanta, I’m in.
