If the rough and tumble Pit isn’t your cup of tea, then get the hell out. Go the General Questions and ask questions. Go the MPSIMS and share mundane pointless stuff. Go to Great Debates and participate in debates. Go to About this Message Board and learn about the message board. Or, most important of all, READ CECIL’S COLUMNS and maybe post under Comments about Cecil’s Columns. But don’t come to the GD forum and post inane remarks and don’t come to the Pit and accuse us all of being mean. These are about the last 2 places a sensitive li’l newbie belongs.

and Kat, perhaps they have fallen silent becuase after speaking to a moderator a while ago (15minutes ago) he said they banned then DNS(?) or Address of the users causing problems, which was (2) seperate computers, with (2) seperate addresses, so your theory about me being him is crap, unless i went and bought a new computer, just to bug you.

In case it escaped you, people are heaping disdain on you because they don’t think you’re for real. That’s certainly why I’M doing it. If you ARE for real (which I seriously doubt), you might establish your reality by posting something of any degree of relevance or intelligence in any forum. Until you’ve established yourself as something other than a poser, people will continue to thing you’re a poser.

an AA in philosophy from American River, where i sometimes work as a Professor (sub) working in the history department.
My day job is working as an associate engineer for CH2MHILL, and CAL-AIR, on energy conservation engineering. Note I am not a full engineer as I have no degree in it, but that I have enough undergrad work to serve as EIT.

Gee…I’m new, but people have been nice to me, so far. I suppose, though, that must be because I was one of the ones picking on Formeragent. I wasn’t trying to be mean, honest. (Rest assured, when I decide to be mean, there will be no mistaking it.) I was simply being skeptical, requesting clarification, details, and, dare I say, proof. Where is the problem with this? Yet he grew terribly defensive: accusing me of picking on him, rediculing my own intelligence and qualifications - with NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ME, and insulting me and others who challenged his face-value presentation of himself.
Those who are fans of Cecil and the Straight Dope, and those who post to or read SDMB, are by their natures skeptical. Anybody who has ever read his books knows that Cecil’s specialty is digging down to- well, to the ‘straight dope’ and not accepting things on faith or just because ‘somebody says so.’. Anyone who is not prepared to deal with skeptics has no business being on these boards.

I guess American Rivers doesn’t list their adjunct faculty, because there’s no 'Michael’s or ‘Mike’ in the history department there.
