ATTN: Burning Dog Legion members (WoW)

This is for any remaining members of the SDMB guild, the Burning Dog Legion, in World of Warcraft (Cairne server), who might still be frequenting the forum and/or playing the game.

The guild has been effectively dead since some time during Mists of Pandaria. My “main” in the guild, Donoma, assumed the role of GM more or less by default, after the previous GM apparently stopped playing. Alas, I’m not really “GMing” over anything, as I can count the number of times she’s logged in during the last seven years and found another member logged in on the fingers of one hand.

Basically, I seem to be the only remaining member of the guild who has continuously played the game since first joining BDL 10 years ago.

It’s time for that to come to an end. Not long ago, with the introduction of allied races, I rolled a new Highmountain tauren warrior on the Cairne server. Unable to find any other BDL member online to invite my new toon into the guild, I went ahead and accepted an invitation from another guild. I’ve decided to go ahead an move my other characters over to the new guild, which means that Donoma will be vacating the GM position.

Since I can’t figure out how to demote myself and promote somebody else, I’m going to just have to /gquit and leave the position up for grabs for whomever snatches it first. I’m going to leave my tauren hunter, Chimtahna, in the BDL. He’s been long “retired”, but he was the very first Horde character I rolled and I’ve never had the heart to delete him, and I wouldn’t feel right moving a character I’m never going to play into an active guild.

I’ll note that some BDL members have been gone for so long that they appear to have lost their names. While scrolling through the roster I spotted a good number of names that have been replaced with placeholder names.

Anyway, my toons will be moving on in the next few days. I’ve never touched the guild bank in all this time, so if something was there the last time you logged in, it should still be there.

I just cancelled my account within the last couple of weeks. Think I’m paid up through April, but I don’t really plan to log in again. Had a good run with WoW, but at the very least I need an extended break from that game. I’m not deleting characters–think I have several in BDL…a warrior, a hunter, a druid…maybe a DK. Really don’t remember. My main was always alliance anyway. So…later, y’all. For the Horde (and for Gnomeregan! says Kahbueme (my main))

Okay, I had to promote somebody before it would let me /gquit, so congratulations to Kalathan for being the most recent character to log in besides myself

I was an early adopter of WoW, having bought in within the first quarter of release (I think I still have my original box). I’ve been off-and-on over the years, frequently rage-quitting over the constant changes to game mechanics that negated months, if not years, of work.

I was last active last year, although perhaps not on a BDL character. To be honest, I never fully committed for the simple reason that I’m not crazy about playing Horde; I like the Alliance cities/hubs so much better.

I am very eagerly awaiting WoW Classic, supposedly to be released this year. Maybe my memories are rose-colored, but we’ll see.

All that said, if someone needs to login to rep BDL, I can do a one-month sub and do whatever needs doing; I don’t mind.

Yeah, I’m primarily Alliance myself, but I always at least get one Horde toon (Donoma, my tauren paladin) to max level each expansion.

I bought six months worth of game time a while back (I think I’m about three months into it now); I hadn’t played since before Mists of Pandaria was released, so I signed in and fixed the names on all my characters. I usually play Alliance, but I have at least one toon in the BDL. If there’s any interest in ‘rebuilding’ the guild, I can certainly help out.

So I guess I’m (Kalathan) the guild master now! I wondered if anyone else from the BDL was still playing regularly – I’d seen that Donoma was the other toon that had been on at all, but we were never on at the same time.

Think I may have a couple of other toons in the BDL, but I probably haven’t touched them in ages and ages. I also have Alliance characters on a completely different server, so I tend to split my time between the two sides.

I’ve tried WoW again, but it’s just not that fun for me. I’m likely to try Classic, though.

I server transferred last time I was active to play with my then-partner, largely due to the inactivity. RIP BDL

So unless I hear some objections, I’m going to shut down the BDL guild. Based on the limited comments on this thread, it doesn’t seem to be an active guild any longer.

My plan is to pull the items from the guild bank and vend them to merchants. Take that gold plus the gold in the guild bank and divide it up amongst those BDL members who have logged into Cairne in the last 3 months as of today. Per the guild roster that’s:

[ul]
[li]Kalathan[/li][li]Pitbullgirl[/li][li]Akatriel[/li][li]Cyral[/li][li]Glawen[/li][li]Chimtahna[/li][li]Calafia[/li][li]Myika[/li][li]Olastine[/li][li]Urnza[/li][li]Jaztroza[/li][li]Laadon[/li][li]Mefistofele[/li][li]Gugel[/li][/ul]

I realize (based on the roster comments) that some players have multiple toons on this list, but it’s the fairest way to distribute the resources that I could think of.

If anyone disagrees with this approach, or has a better idea how to fairly distribute the BDL assets, please reply here and we’ll see what we can work out. Otherwise, I’ll probably start clearing out the guild bank Monday PM.

I have no objections. But you don’t need to distribute any proceeds to my remaining toon, Chimtahna. I left him in the guild when I moved my others simply for sentimental reasons, and he’s a retired toon that I don’t play at all (I just don’t have the heart to delete him, as he was my very first Horde toon).

The only time I log him in is during Winter Veil every year. He was a leatherworker, but his skill never got high enough to craft the Winter Boots recipe that Greatfather Winter mails him. It amuses me to just log him in once a year to collect another copy of the pattern from the mailbox. He has 10 copies.

I have no objections. My Cairne character(s) were not in my top 3 most-played, so I’m sure whatever contributions I made to the guild bank were trivial.

Thank you for doing the work of an orderly shutdown.

Would be ok to divide up the spoils but not dissolve the guild? I (Laradon) have not played all that much, having just resubbed today after lapsing for a couple months on my subscription. I don’t have any plans to really go anywhere since I mostly solo anyway. There are a few remaining guild perks/items that I like and don’t really want to join another guild just to get them, but if I need to, not a big problem.

Thanks,
Laradon

I (Pitbullgirl) am Ok with this plan, although kjckjc had a good idea to not actually dissolve the guild because of the perks like Mount Up and Hasty Hearth.

OK - I’ve cleaned out and sold all the saleable items. That got 2,346 g 94 s and 63 c. There was 115,188 g and a bit in the guild bank, resulting in 117,534 g 53 S and 79 c of “total assets”

Dividing that up amongst 11 toons (using the list above, but excluding Chimtahna per Mr. Rik’s offer) results in 10,684.95.60 per toon. I’ve sent mail to each one of the characters in the list above with that amount attached.

I won’t disband the BDL because there are benefits. But there may come a time when I want to move on from the guild :frowning: and as Mister Rik discovered, there has to be a guildmaster. So if that time comes, I’ll promote someone else to guildmaster from the recent logins list.

I am (was) Ygramul and Mogbog. This sounds like a good plan. I basically stopped playing after a month or two of Warlords of Draenor, and let my account lapse. Part of this might relate to the beginning of the relationship with my now wife leading to less time playing games, but I think that starting with Pandaria my heart stopped being in it.

I am still active as Cyral (the most exceptional Shaman). If no one else is on board or objects, I can try to rebuild. The guild bank is virtually empty so if the GM(s) want to pass the guild along to me, I’ll see what I can do. That way we’ll have a presence if and when you all come back.
