Okay, here’s how I originally envisioned the ranks and how I think they should change:
Ember Puppy (Rank 5) was for Alts and non-SDMB guild members going through a trial period (we had a couple at one points). Very few privs, was initially the only rank that could not ginvite and could withdraw nothing from the bank.
Legionnaire (Rank 4) was the default rank for mains, and could draw what, at the time, was a reasonable amount of gold (5) and a small number of stacks from the bank. As far as I can tell, Legionnaires can still only withdraw that amount.
Hellhound (Rank 3) was the rank for raiding members (or members who were very frequently on), I think I set the gold limit barely higher just as a formality. The main draw was ability to use guild repairs because I felt, at the time, that if you raided with us it was only fair to use our gold for repairs when we failed.
Vaultmaster (Rank 2) was a special rank I announced on the forum for bank management. It was the only rank (other than GM, natch) that had complete and total access to the gbank. If I recall correctly, Omencaller was the original Vaultmaster and the rank was created solely out of a need to organize the stupid bank and liquidate unneeded materials when they got out of control. Eventually I think it devolved into “the guy who deals with what happens when we got hacked” (long after I had stopped being GM).
Flamelord (Rank 3) was… basically Hellhound. I’m not entirely clear on why it’s there, I think the only extra priv is officer chat and setting MOTD. I think the only reason it’s there is for /gpromote purposes.
Dracolich (GM) was… okay, you guys can figure this one out.
Okay, so here’s how I think they should change
Ember Puppy stays the same, but mostly as a “just in case” rank. Anybody who hasn’t been on in months or years and is currently a puppy will remain a puppy for pure safety.
Legionnaire will be the default rank for everyone, alt or main. Gold and stack withdraw will remain the same (maybe upped a tiny bit for gold withdraw), but Guild Repair will be enabled. Invite Privs.
Hellhound will be renamed to Core Hound, and as the name implies, will be for people with an authenticator (aka Core Hound Pup). They’ll have even greater withdraw privileges at the bank – not sure on exact numbers. Maybe 20-50 gold and 10 stacks or so? Grepair enabled. Invite Privs. We’ll pretty much just take your word for it if you say you have an authenticator.
Vaultmaster will remain the same, Grepair enabled if it’s not already.
Flamelord will essentially be a clone of Hellhound/Core Hound (again), but the GM should promote a few people’s mains to it so that we have people that can promote alts with an authenticator to Core Hound. Also set MOTD.
Dracolich gets the honor of enacting all these changes. Also design a tabard if you want, which might I remind you is the most fun thing ever.
All users will have the ability to edit their own tags.
Like I said, if Bird still has that “inactive GM” prompt, and does /gleader Lingyao I can do this all no fuss on Friday or Saturday when I get some free time (I’m used to the terrible interface!). Or someone else can, not a huge deal.
P.S. /gpromote at least used to work on offline members. The only guild command that I recall that won’t work on offline players is /ginvite for obvious reasons.
ETA: Yeti, we could up the gold withdraw limit if Doggiebanker deposits a chunk of that 140k.
