August Dopefest in Buffalo (or Rochester), New York?

Saturday the 18th, I will be busy, however.

But most of the other days should be fine.

Wow, this is something that I’d really like to do. I have no more reasons to visit Rochester. But I already have too many trips planned. :frowning:

So shall we aim for Sunday the 19th? In the afternoon?

Anyone have a problem with that?

I’m always available on a Sunday. Have to work Saturday. Works for me.

That’ll probably work for me too.

Sounds good to me, just have to hope that if mrAru has a job by that time, he can sleep in the car on the way home or get sunday off =)

I’m going to be in Rochester a few weeks later than that to take my kid back to school. Close but no cigar. Pity.

Okay, any suggestions for a location?

The last time we had a meeting in Rochester, we went to the Dinosaur. But in retrospect that was probably a poor choice. It’s a popular place and quite crowded. They don’t like people taking up a table for an extended period. We should look for someplace that’s less busy and doesn’t mind if people hang out for an hour or two.

Potluck in a park picnic pavillion? Unfortunately my mom is in Caledonia and has alzheimers so holding it at her house would not be a good idea =( a mass of strangers would terrify her =(

Another bump.

Not seeing suggestions here. We’ve got the chains like Applebee’s, TGI Fridays, Chilis, TC Hooligans, Red Robin, Uno. We’ve got the Anchor Bar, Woody’s, Jeremiahs, the Distillery, Sticky Lips, Sheridan’s Pub, Pineapple Jacks, Rohrbach Brewing Company, the Old Toad. Or do people want to do something like Chinese or Indian or Thai or Mexican or seafood?

I am flexible.

Well, drawing closer.
I’m good with a potluck too, but I’d prefer probably meeting at a place that already has food. My fear is that I’ll be too busy on my vacation (on the other days) to be able to make and bring something good to a potluck, haha. Although the food, in that case, would obviously be free.

Restaurant-wise, I’m good with anything.

Okay, as nobody seems to have a strong preference, how about the Distillery in Greece? It’s got a good menu that everyone should be okay with. It’s a decent sized place so we should have no problem getting a table for whoever shows up. It’s a casual atmosphere so they won’t be pushing us out the door. And it’s easy to get to and it has good parking.

The menu looks like anyone could find something to eat or drink. Soundsl like a plan.

Rochester NY, mid August. . . Sounds like fun. I remember soothing storms in Rochester off the waterfront as a kid.

I’m from the Buffalo area, but I can’t get around really… (I only drive to places I know). Hope you enjoy your stay.

I like it.

This is a very easy place to get to. It’s at the intersection of 104 and 390. You’ll literally be a hundred feet off the expressway.

That sounds good. I will try to make it.

I don’t drive on the expressway. Maybe I can get my brother, (who’s lurked the boards from time to time), to drive me.
