Automotive adornments - an observational MMP

MIL called - FIL is doing well. He had a bad day yesterday, but since then, his nausea has passed, he’s walked around a little bit, and he’s already asking to go home. Unfortunately, his blood pressure is still a bit wonky (on the low side) and they don’t want to send him home till they figure out what the deal is. But maybe tomorrow…

I finished kitteh #1, and it’s in the drying mode. I also finished underglazing the piece I started yesterday and completed a rather pretty turquoise bowl. A flowered jar is next up, but I needed a break. And lunch. And maybe some ice cream.

It’s cool and breezy and I’m loving it. It’s like spring!! I expect there are a lot of kids who are upset because they can’t go swimming, but I’m in my happy place!

OK, lunch. 'Mater sammich! YUM!!

Good to hear he’s on the mend. As for the BP, probably just after-effects of the Fentanyl and Darvon or whatever they had him on during and immediately after surgery.

For me, it’s usually the other way - my BP is normally around 132/89 or so. My doc is unworried - apparently mild hypertension is common with my particular flavor of thyroid disorder, but, it wigs out anyone else. Look, my BP is already a bit high to begin with, and now you’ve got me all riled up. Of course it’s going to be jumping up to 150/95!

OK, I was postin’ and #@%^$#%^*( IE froze up!

But I’m feelin’ much better now!

Home after a day I thought would be a lot busier. Really. I thought more people would be out and about and have questions about stuff like buyin’ [del] Satan’s own mobile device[/del] iPhones.

Yay for FIL MOOOOOOM! Here’s hopin’ he goes home tomorrow.

Yay for fixed AC and good neighbors Rebo!

I left ol’ y’all know who with instructions on how to use the smoker to smoke ribs and he done good! Reckon I’ll have to show special “appreciation” later. They are tomorrow’s dindin but just might have to be sampled tonight.

I did make the chicken sallit last night before beddy bye. Go Me! We’re havin’ sammiches for dindin with a possible rib samplin’.

Yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, how you doin’s to everybody else.

I cleaned myself up, fought with the tangled hose, watered the plants, aaaaannnd, I guess that’s about it.

I’m glad to see FiL is recovering, FCM.

Of course we missed you rebo! Too bad you’re not closer to San Antonio; I’ll be there the week of July 20th.

Well, I guess I should put my face on. We’re off to get propane and booze. One cannot have a 4th of July BBQ without either!

Last load of laundry is in the dryer. We has sketties for an early supper. I got two more pieces decorated for firing - 3 to go.

Tomorrow, we’ll cut the grass and, well, I don’t know what else. I’m pretty sure **FCD **will want to go sailing, but I hate going out on holidays. There are *way *too many idiots on the water on 3 days each summer - Memorial, Independence, and Labor days. Apart from listening to the idiots on the radio talking CB lingo, many of them have no concept of right-of-way on the water. Add beer, and it’s dangerous. And not fun.

We shall see.

Oh yeah - car keys found - they’d fallen off the counter on to one of the stools. They wedged between the seat and the back. So that mystery is solved.

Meanwhile, I need ice cream.

MMP is all written! I just have to plug it in and check that all the links are good. I’ll probably bore the hell out of ya.

I’m glad FIL is doing ok, FCM. And I’m glad you found the keys! That’s so aggravating.

Speaking of ice cream, last night I grilled some peaches and served with ice cream for dessert. Y’all have try this! So easy. Brush with oil, and lay on the grill cut side down. When you have some grill marks, turn over and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Cooking time is only about 6 minutes. Serve with ice cream! Yum.

Rebo grilled peaches are teh num! Especially with ice cream.

The smoker is all cleaned up. WHEW! I love what it does but it’s awful to clean up. However, the numiness that is smoked animal flesh makes it all ok.

I shall now shower and get myself relaxed. It shall be beddy bye time soon enough. Gotta work early tomorrow.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

::waves at Rebo::

Mmmmm, grilled peaches sound yummy.

Glad your FIL is doing well, FCM.

So, didja go to the mall, Taters?

I had Libyan Salad and some bread for dinner. (Libyan Salad is easy and very refreshing: Finely chop: onion (maybe 1 tablespoon), Romaine lettuce (till you have about 3 cups pretty tightly packed), cucumber (maybe 3/4 cup), tomato (maybe 3/4 cup). Season with salt and pepper. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice and toss. The authentic method is to toss it with your hands. This is from a friend’s ex, who was born in Libya, but came to the U.S. as a teenager.

I spent a couple of hours at church, helping move plants around. We got lots and lots done. When I got home, I planted a bunch of daylilies that we’d taken out of the church garden. (They were really unhappy - I think they just needed to be divided - and my friend had decided to bring some fancier ones in. She was going to pitch these, but I had room for them and also figured a couple of my neighbors could use them. Of course I have no idea what color they are, but it’ll be fun to see what they look like. (I know they used to be pretty.)

After I was gardened out, I went for a long walk and now I’m all showered and relaxed and am going to finish off my latest scarf (I started it a couple of weeks ago and am almost done.)

Maybe I’ll have some ice cream first, though.

Hugs and happy almost 4th.

GT

Oh, my my my! Dinner was so good I feel compelled to write out the recipe right here and now. Dad even liked it, and he doesn’t like Italian, 'cept for sketties.

Happy Shrimp

1/2 stick butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup white wine
1/2 cup heavy cream or half and half
2 tbs fresh basil, chopped
2 roma tomatoes, or 1 medium tomato, chopped
1 pinch red pepper flakes
salt and pepper to taste

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Stir in shrimp, garlic, and green onions. Cook and stir until shrimp are pink and no longer translucent, about 5 minutes. Remove the shrimp, and set aside. Pour in the wine, cream, tomatoes, basil and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer about 10 minutes until thickened. Return shrimp to skillet, and heat through. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Serve over hot cooked angel hair pasta.

I served it with Zucchini Crisps, which I think are already in the blog. (Sliced zucchini and/or yellow squash, dipped in egg, then grated parmesan. Bake at 425° for 15 minutes, turning once.)

Long day for me at work. I thought I would get home and call my honey, but she had to work late too, so I didn’t get to talk to her as much as I wanted. Have to go in again tomorrow morning for a couple hours, then I get to go to my family reunion. I’m still closeted with family, so this will be fun, not.

Happy Shrimp sounds delicious, Rebo, definitely need to give that a try.

Glad that FiL is doing better, FCM.

VWife got bit on the ass by a horse this morning. And a goat was involved.

That is all.

Home, tired, back to work at 0600,

DETAILS MAN!!!

did you keep a straight face?

pokes head into the MMP

Sorry I been gone so long, my laptop’s wireless card and slot went kablooie. Has since been repaired though, and I’m currently posting from a hotel room in Pittsburg, where I’m attending Anthrocon. I’d like to take charge of the next MMP; it may not be up until Monday morning EST, but I can guarantee it’ll be the longest, wierdest, furriest MMP you’ve ever seen.

Will catch up with y’all then :stuck_out_tongue:

VWife and I have been taking care of the neighbor’s critters all week while they are on vacation. Various farm animals, all onesies and twosies of a particular species.

They have an older horse which is very obstinate, and a goat in the next pen that are in love with each other. Well, except at feeding time, when the horse is “Me first!”

VWife decided to feed the goat first, and the goat gets the same feed pellets and hay the horse gets. Well, the goat flipped her bowl over, so VWife went into the pen to right everything. When she came out, Smokey the horse took exception, and bit her shoulder.

She turned and started berating the horse. She finished, turned around, and bent over to get a scoop of pellets for Smokey. Her big ass must have been as much as a taunt to the horse as waving a red cape in front of a bull, and <chomp>.

NO!!!

Good morning, and Happy 4th!

Welcome back, Ali! Can’t wait to hear your tale, but **Rebo **has already claimed the next MMP, so you either wait a week or just add your story as a hijack.

**Bobbio **- you’re an evil, evil man - I like it!

FIL is home. MIL wasn’t ready for it yesterday, so she ran back to the house to get some pillows to make his trip home more comfortable. When she returned to the hospital, they had FIL all disconnected, dressed, and lying in bed with his discharge papers on his chest. What a classy operation… Based on other things she’s told me, it sounds as if the medical folks in Ocala, an area *FULL *of retirees, seem to consider their patients to be feeble-minded inconveniences. GAH!!!

Plans for the day - mowing the yard. I’m going to use the push mower in the ditch while **FCD **drives the John Deere around. His knee has been doing really well and I’m not giving him the chance to booger it up again. He wants to take the boat out this afternoon. I really don’t want to deal with the holiday idiots, but we’ll see.

Can’t believe my vacation is over. :frowning: I don’t wanna go back to work on Monday. It’s not fair. I should be independently wealthy, living a life of leisure and excess. Stoopit work.

Happy 4th, you wacky 'Muricans!

waves at Moonie Howdy stranger! I was wondering where you’d gone off to… exams usually don’t last all the way into July.

I’m pretty sure Rebo’s snagged the next MMP, but maybe y’all can thumbwrestle over it? I have to say, I’m awfully fascinated by what sorts of goings-on must happen at a furry convention.

It’s a lovely day in the neighbourhood. Taking Little Sis and Her Boy to the farmer’s market, and then sending them on their way. Hurray! My basement will be mine again! We managed to make it through this visit without killing each other, which is substantial progress.

Then we’re swinging down to the beach for a lakeside picnic with my university pals, and meeting up with some other friends for dinner. I expect I’ll be utterly pooped by 5pm at that rate, but it’ll be fun to catch up with various people that we haven’t seen in a while.

Blueberry coffee cake just came out of the oven. Smells yummerrific - as soon as it cools, breakfast will be served.

Still no grass mowed. We’re in the lazy mode. Lazy is good.

morning all! And Happy Fourth of July to the USA.

I’m caffeinating this morning with iced coffee, which tastes purty good. I brekkied on some maple Life cereal with fresh blueberries - although FCM’s coffee cake sounds really good.

No plans for today - it’s just my daughter and I today, so it looks; my son is working security down on the Mall! I just hope everything goes smoothly. Mothers always worry, I think. Well, that’s my own explanation at least. LOL

Good to see you back, Moonie- Rebo’s going to share with us about her family reunion that she went to. But we’re anxious to hear your tale (or is that tail? ;)) too!

Happy 4th, all!

So, Moonie, did anyone mention that Rebo’s signed up for Monday? You’re welcome to jump in and add your story or you could save it for the 13th.

I wondered where you were hiding. Sat near some furries in the convention center food court during Origins. I work nearby, so one of the perks is that I get to know about every big gathering that happens over there; it’s fun and creates all kinds of people-watching opportunities. This week, it’s the invasion of the Mennonites (don’t picture the Amish; all the people I saw were very mainstream looking). About 2,000 of them were high school age (I stumbled upon this in the paper; some of them are hosting a holiday picnic for homeless people at a local mission).

I hear ya on the needing to be independently wealthy, FCM. Maybe we’ll win the lottery soon?

It’s supposed to rain today, but is showing no signs so far. So I’ma stretch some and go out into the garden and (wait for it…) plant stuff.

Back later.
