Autumn Films: What are you excited for?

I confess, I was disappointed with Summer. I saw a few films, but none were fantastic. Fall is here. What do you want to see? I think almost all of the ones I mention below I start with: Could be hit or miss.

Extract: This one could be hit or miss. I like Batemen, but the last few I saw him in were mediocre.

Invention of Lying: Again, could be hit or miss. I like Ricky Gervais and enjoyed his RomCom last year about this time. I’ll give it a try.

Zombieland: Hit or miss. Has an interesting premise, could be fun. I guess we’ll see.

All about Steve: I do like Bullock, and I think I’ll go, but I’m guessing miss.

Love Happens: I like RomComs, I’m gonna go, but I’m guessing miss.

Astro Boy: Wow, it is a tough sell. I loved the cartoons in my youth, but really? Nick Cage is in, man is it going to stink. I think it will miss and I will miss it.

Couples Retreat: Another hit or miss. Has some good start and I like Jon Favreu. I’ll see it.

Disney’s A Christmas Carol: At first I was all like: OMG, how can we possibly need *another *version of A Christmas Carol. And with Jim Carey as lead? Please! But then I saw it was 3D and thought it might be worth a peek. I do love a well-done 3D film and although I am not a Carey fan, his The Mask was fun and he might be able to pull this off. Usually my local doesn’t show 3D, so I may miss it just because I won’t drive an hour. I’ll have to check with them.

What are you going to watch?

Sherlock Holmes, cause it stars Robert Downey Jr. and it’s Sherlock Holmes.

ETA: But it debuts on Christmas, which isn’t autumn, is it? So… nothing.

I’ve got three I’m hankering for:

Jennifer’s Body: I’m hoping for a campy teen horror movie, and I think Diablo Cody is more than poised to deliver. Amanda Seyfried is likable if nothing else, and Megan Fox has a role she might be able to pull off. I’ll be in line.

Where the Wild Things Are: The trailers are fantastic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=–N9klJXbjQ). I’m not one of the people who grew up on the book, but I’m really excited to get a look at this one.

Amelia: Shameless Oscar-bait? Maybe, but I am one of the few Hillary Swank admirers in the world (P.S., I Love You was not her fault :p), and having once performed a play about Amelia, I think she’s capable of nailing the role. Throw in Ewan McGregor, and I’m in.

Also, I’m dreading Fame. Mostly because I’m worried I might enjoy it.

I’m looking forward to 9, coming to theaters this week. The animation looks terrific!

Definitely excited about Where The Wild Things Are. My favorite book for a while as a youngun.

The Road - I’ve read the book, so I know what to expect if they stay true to it in spirit. Not my favorite McCarthy, but I’ll probably see it.

**The Lovely Bones ** I’ve read the book, and mostly liked it. I’m sure Jackson will make a spectacle of it, hopefully in a good way.

Avatar - The trailer looks kind of corny, but I have faith in Cameron to deliver a well-told story and I bet it will look great in 3D.
