Autumn leaves are falling in the MMP

Happy Moonday!

It’s a rainy 66 degrees here, probably about as warm as it’s going to get.
The dogs are at day care, and the lfb guy just left for the day. Says he will be back Firday.

today’s video

I feel asleep sitting in my chair this morning, lfb guy woke me up when he was leaving.
I am tired, but I have lots to do and easier to get it done with no dogs bugging me.
I’d rather go to bed.

{{{Wordy and Mom}}}

I’m feeling a bit like I got stuck in Groundhog’s Day repeats. The weather is really foggy, which isn’t helping the situation.

I was in the office on Monday and may not go back again until December or even next year. Motivation is rather low and disorganization is high.

Need to stay out of Politics & Elections and the Pit. Worrying isn’t helping anything.

Currently savoring a beer which is 8.5%. Bought one to try it and see if I want to buy more. I will definitely buy more, and as it’s high proof, it won’t go bad for another 1.5 years.

Got another mosquito bite, which is so not right for November. This year was fairly light on mosquitos, so it’s weird to have them flying around now. If I see one, it’s easy to kill it as it won’t be flying very fast.

Need to go to bed early. Being short on sleep isn’t helping.

Stay safe!

Just finished stitching up a couple of small runners for the little cabinets in the dining room. I wish I’d bought another quarter yard of fabric so they’d hang a little lower, but I don’t think they look bad. I also finished the curtains for my daughter.

Apart from figuring out supper, I have nothing else to do today.

Hello, everyone, and happy Wednesday. I’ve been MIA because I’m having a little eye trouble again and knew if I came on here, I’d want to talk about it when I didn’t want to talk about it. (Does too make sense!) Enough about me. I’ve read and read and think I’m caught up.

First and foremost: Butters, I’m sorrier than I can say about the loss of Mr. Butters. What a blow. The responses made it obvious to me how very much you’re cherished here in Mumperland, and I hope that helps a bit. Grief is a long, strange journey, but you’re not alone in making it. Big hugs, my dear.

Wordy, the surgery sounds grueling, both on wordy mom and yourself. I’m pulling for both of you. And I agree it’s a blessing in a way that COVID protocol keeps you from spending the night. The nursing staff will take good care of her, and you need the rest for the ongoing battle.

FCM, the runners are lovely. Such good taste! How was the film on the Library of Congress? I was lucky enough to get a fellowship there one summer–such a fascinating, beautiful place, and yet another thing I like about ol’ TJ.

Dice, good decision to take a break from politics. I’m trying to avoid social media, as I find the increasingly widespread conspiracy theories and deep-rooted hatred upsetting and worrisome, and 2020 has drained my reservoir of resilience. Savor that brewski!

Just realized if I try to respond to everyone, this is going to be the longest post in Mumper history, so I’ll stop for now. Just know I’m responding mentally, even if you can’t see or hear me.

Took a walk in the fall leaves today. Nothing better than scuffing through the reds, oranges and yellows on the sidewalks. Supposed to be some fairly significant rain headed our way; up to 4" by some estimates, and some heavy winds. Good for the ski mountains, not so much for us flatlanders.

Ordered the fixins for chex mix, which I get a hankering for this time of year. Also, our free-range turkey arrived the other day, so T-day is a go. Scored some turkey thighs to make stock out of in advance, which will be added to the stuffing and the gravy.

Glad you got sprung from the slammer Hippie.

Just got back from the dentist. can’t eat or drink anything for a while without dribbling on myself.
He was saying I might want to get a Night Guard thingee to put fluoride on my teeth and wear at night. Anybody ever use one of those? They’re like $400 from the dentist. That’s an expensive experiment.

Don’t know what exactly I’m gonna do this afternoon. Prolly scour the garage for stuff we need at the other house. I might see if our little leaf blower can blow those sodden leaves around any. Or not. I hate yard work.

I am also developing a hatred for the keyboard on this laptop. Some combination of keystrokes makes the cursor jump to a whole other part of the page occasionally, and I’m not fast enough, or smart enough, to figure out what keys do that. I should go upstairs and use my own computer, but whenever i retire to my ‘lair’ i get distracted by all my unfinished projects on my desks up there and the day gets away from me. (Yes, I have 2 desks upstairs. Plus a spare computer desk. Doesn’t everybody?)

Salmon burgers and sides TBD for dinner tonight. We were gonna go to one of the local restaurants for dinner that had a notice on their sign that they had free meals for veterans today, but found out on facebook that they have a very limited menu for the free meals and it was only for breakfast and lunch. Harrumph!

Dice, your beer sounds absolutely perfect for me. Enjoy.

I think I may try to eat something.

Home again, home again, jiggety-jig.

Monkey and Nikki are suitably excited to see me, the ratties are in great shape, and Pretzel is suitably unimpressed at my absence.

All’s well with the menagerie.

Therefore, all is well with me.

Yes, I have used them. It is helpful. If you save just one filling to repair a cracked or chipped tooth, it has paid for itself.

Be sure to ask for it to be made in a really bright, fun color-makes it easier to find.

Glad to hear it and I can just imagine how glad your furry and scaled friends are to see you.

Now, commence with all the juicy details promised us interloping voyeurs. Extra credit for a YouTube link.

Boo

I promised nothing!

We ordered Chinese delivery because. Other than that, rampant laziness ensues.

Afternoon all. Remembered the appointment and the Doc diagnosed that I had a pinched nerve around where a major muscle group is, and as he described it, it made sense of what I had been feeling. So he had X-rays taken (just in case it was something else) and then a shot of cortisone which he says should fix me right up.

Asked about a shingles shot and he recommended it, the desk said that is something I can walk-in anytime and get, so once I work up the courage I’ll get that shot too.

Still rainy and cooler (62F) so inside I will stay for the rest of the day.

shoe, glad you and your animal friends are happily reunited. And I’ll back BBBoo up, of course you promised us all the sordid details…

Bumba , the cost is mostly in the molding and making of the thing to fit well in your mouth. Having one that doesn’t fit properly is not fun. And something or some combination on my keyboard makes the page I’m on save, but I still don’t know what combination I’m hitting to do that!

Cookie, leaves that you don’t have to rake are the best. Stay dry.

nellie, hope the eye is doing better. And go ahead and set a record for the MMP on length of post…we’ll just remember “oh, back in 2013 when ____ went on for pages and pages…”

FCM, runners look nice. Where are the figurines from (look Spanish to me).

Dice, what, are Swiss politics that boring, you need to borrow some anxiety from us… . And your 8.5% beer will be making some Mumpers jealous…

Sari, love the video, the dogs just enjoy romping.

Wheelie, if she was so smart, why did she…nah, you’re both happy with each other and that is a good thing to be in this world. All the best.

talky, glad Mom-unit came through surgery Ok, keep us apprised of her progress and you take care of yourself.

OK, need to start considering dinner here. First meal was Carnation Instant Breakfast only, so I’ll be eating early tonight. Then need to call my brother and see if they are clear for a family visit come Thanksgiving.

MetalMouse, my parents gave me the figures after one of their travels. I’m guessing a cruise that stopped in Mexico, but I need to ask my mom. I especially like the Don Quixote and Sancho Panza pair - they go with the print hanging behind them.

Supper was good. I ate too much. Chillage continues.

We did exactly what you think healthy, young(-ish) people did. Repeatedly. With gusto.

Woke him gently up in the middle of the night for another round, upon The Gentleman’s earlier request. (Otherwise, he sleeps 8 hours straight, like a weirdo.)

Sheesh. You Mumpers and your insatiable demands for salacious details.

I’d come here to say I had a rattie buyer tonight (who looks likely to become a repeat customer) and that dinner was a couple of chicken thighs roasted with onions (duh, of course) and N.O.T.s plus enough garlic to scare away a castleful of Draculas.

But nooooo gotta be the sexy details. You Mumpers. My friends.

Well, we already coulda guessed about the onions and garlic. Sheesh.

Don’t look now but us not exactly healthy, oldish people do it with gusto too. Repeatedly.

The sleeping 8 hours thing is weird though.

Nm…

{{{butters}}} There’s so much to take care of when you lose a partner.

OW, I wish someone had given me that advice when I lost Mike.

Glad your doctor’s appointment went well metal mouse.

{{{wordy and mama}}}

Irked, came home, walked the dog, made next week’s menu and grocery list out and have been working on some training for Nelson (we’re working on indoor voice right now. He’s been weird lately and barking his fool head off for no apparent reason. He’s putting using an indoor voice together with getting a treat. Thank goodness he’s fairly bright. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

{{{{{butters}}}}} (in case the ones from the other day wore off)

That’s okay – we’re not offended. We know you would have promised if you’d had time.

Played canasta?

Stayed up way late last night and therefore woke up late, forgot what day it was, and missed my annual free meal from Chili’s. Did, however, get my free steak from Applebee’s for supper. (Southwestern-style chicken for Lady SCAdian.) I really don’t understand how November gor here so soon…

Hope everyone had a good Veterans/Remembrance Day.
