It looks pretty damn sweet to me. Avengers!. I put it there since I don’t have Quicktime and am lazy.
Looks OK. I’ll see it since Joss Whedon wrote and directed it.
Looks like Downey will steal the show - which is unsurprising and excellent. Who’s playing Banner though?
Mark Ruffalo, he of the fun-to-say-name, who looks oddly puffy.
With Lou Ferrigno voicing the Hulk!
Huh - what happened to Edward Norton? Not interested? It would have been lots of fun to see him & Downey working together.
I thought the styling looked a bit weak. Joss’ cinematography and actor directing just aren’t top level. At least he didn’t cast it.
His writing is good.
Agreed, but there was some sort of falling out, dunno what. I seem to remember that he wanted too much creative control?
I’d agree that Whedon’s not the most visually inventive director out there, but he’s a top notch director of actors.
And not for the first time, mind you. He also voiced the Hulk during the Hulk’s 90s cartoon series.
I would have preferred Jon Favreau to direct, but ah well.
If Serenity isn’t enough proof of Whedon’s visual inventiveness, I don’t know what is.
Heh - see, I actually see “Serenity” as evidence of the contrary (and that’s speaking as someone who considers “Firefly” his favorite science fiction series of all time). “Firefly” itself had some gorgeous visual design, but much of that came from the sets and costuming rather than Whedon’s direction. The look of “Firefly” was a seamless merging of Old West and classical Eastern style, and tended towards warm colors that made everything pop in a really lovely way. “Serenity,” in contrast, favored harsh, cold lighting and incredibly ugly typefaces (including Papyrus for the title, for god’s sake). It stripped away a lot of what made the 'Verse feel unique and real, in favor of a more standard dystopian future.
Also, the spaceship designs in “Firefly” were WAY cooler those in “Serenity.” The Dortmunder is one of my favorite capital ship designs ever, a true city in space. The Operative’s ship, in contrast, just looked like Generic Big Spaceship #3 (With Transformer Action!).
Yaidunno, I think that if you got a bunch of artists and cinematographers up and asked them to rate the visuals of the following movies, you’d get something like:
Serenity - 3
Solaris - 9
Alien - 8
2001: A Space Oddysey - 10
Armageddon - 7
Fifth Element - 8
For a guy who got his powers from steroids, Captain America was being kinda snooty towards Tony Stark and his suit in the trailer.
Cool
Looks like a fun ride.
Word in the press about Norton was, Marvel said it was about Norton not playing well with others, Norton (his rep, actually) said it was about money.
Perhaps. Or they may have just decided that Robert Downey is better known than Chris Evans or Chris Hemsworth so they featured him in the trailer.
Looks neat.
And I fully believe that the issue with Norton was about money…he seems kinda douch-ey that way
Definitely on my list. Although I have heard (with no confirming evidence) that Stark takes a backseat in this movie and is really more of a supporting character, no matter what the trailer seems to indicate.
You know something is up when it’s the actor (Norton) saying he quit over money rather than “artistic differences.” My guess is he really doesn’t play well with others.
