In Norton’s defense other actors (Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson) have gone on record that they feel Marvel was not offering enough money. Norton may have decided that he’s a serious actor and if he’s going to whore himself for an action movie, the producers are going to have to pay him some serious money.
Not enough Hawkeye in the trailer. Blink and you might miss him.
Yea, “not enough money” seems a pretty rational reason to pass on the movie. Its not like “pretending to be a green ogre that bashes through American military hardware” is some sort of noble cause he should take up purely for the greater good.
I imagine thats one of the problems behind making an Avengers movie, you have to pay for the salaries of multiple big name actors as joint-leads, plus all the special effects. Even without Norton, its going to be the 8th most expensive movie (going by wikipedias list and their number for The Avengers production budget).
To be fair as well, from what I heard the producers got nasty. Norton probably would have declined gently, until the studio publically told him to f*ck off. Norton then returned fire, and it all became rather messy.
One thing I noted: It vaguely shows Loki looking sinister. However, world domination isn’t really Loki’s thing. I keep feeling like the trailer is trying to put one over on us. It shows explosions and some kinda of fight, but not really with whom. So there may be more to this than shown.
Finally: I’m not surprised Cap would dislike Iron Man. Sure, the latter is heroic. He’s also an the Amazing Iron Jerk on top of it. Plus, some posters suspected that it would be natural for Iron Man to transfer his resentment of his dad to Cap - who was shown as one of the few men Stark Sr. really respected.
Also, aren’t Captain America and Iron Man on opposite sides during the Civil War?
His thing is, though, Stirring Up Shit That Might Make Thor Die.
Yeah, I’m not much of a Whedon fan and never saw Firefly but heard such great things about Serenity that I checked it out. Honestly it looked on par with what the SyFy channel pieces together.
Ironman definitely got the best lines in the trailer, we’ll see how that plays out in the actual movie. Really looking forward to this one.
I know a person who work on practical effects for Avengers — the little they have shared about Marvel Studios is that they are cheap.
Yeah, but Civil War sucked. Better to ignore it.
Isn’t that where Superboy punched a wizard?
No, it’s the one where the powers that be decided to turn superheroes like Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic into fascists and slavers.
Not a dream! Not a trick! Not an imaginary story!
Who plays John Steed?
StG
Ralph Fiennes.
Oh that I can believe. But it begs the question of “What Shit That Might Make Thor Die is Loki Stirring Up?”
The most persistent rumor, based on tidbits and snippets of info, is that there will be Skrulls
Thor just doesn’t translate to live action. He looks cheesy as he’ll.
I think the most interesting part will be watching the heroes (inevitably) fight each other in beginning of the movie. I’d enjoy seeing The Destroyer kick Iron Man around for a few minutes. And Thor and Hulk must trade punches of course.
The original offer they made to Rourke was $250,000. I’m no fan of Mickey Rourke but that’s bordering on insulting. This was when Rourke was coming off The Wrestler and an Oscar nomination. And they were offering him less money than Angus Jones gets for a single episode of Two and a Half Men.
