Awesome verbal tic!

Figured I would have to share this with Dopers as I am the only guy from my team in the office today, and it would be a one-way ticket to HR if I spoke to one of my female teammates about this.

I just got off the phone with a female collaborator from another company who has the most, um, interesting verbal tic I have ever heard. At the end of every sentence or so she lets out a lightly vocalized sigh. At first I thought that it was some form of laughter, except neither she nor I had said anything particularly funny. Then I noticed that it was happening pretty often. Then I noticed it was not so much a laugh as a moan. And it wasn’t a moan of sorrow or frustration either. It was kind of a happy moan. And it sounded kind of familiar. But it wasn’t familiar from the office though. It was from somewhere else.

Oh. :smack:

Yep, she was punctuating every sentence with a mini-orgasm. And once I got that into my head, I couldn’t listen to anything else she was saying.

Needless to say, I have scheduled another call with her tomorrow

How do you know she wasn’t actually having mini orgasms?

That is a good point. It is possible she isn’t having a verbal tick so much as Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder.

I may be long, but I’m not THAT long

Hate to ruin your mental picture. I emit a similar sigh accompanied by a slight pause while speaking. For me at least it is due to pain.

Whoever told you the female orgasm involves a slight sigh was blatantly misleading you. They actually don’t exist.

Please record and share so we can all better understand what’s going on.

As an adjunct, I recommend visiting YouTube and searching for “hysterical literature.”
