It’s 51 F (about 11 C) here. Since it has been a strange run of unseasonably warm days (it hit 82 F, or 26 C, three days ago, if I remember right), that’s positively chilly to me. I have to wear pants, of all things.
Yesterday it was 39 F here in the lovely Bay Area and the people on the radio were moaning about how frigid it was.
Californians are such wimps.

Girls go clubbing without coats? Seriously? I’ve seen girls wearing open toed shoes in the winter here but at least they remember to wear their coats. Yowza. But me, I look at it as an opportunity to wear boots…also sexy.
It is Freezing Ass Cold. The snow from last Friday has not gone anywhere…when it does melt a little, it just turns into black ice as soon as the sun sets. My grey hoodie has become a permanent fixture over whatever shirt I’m wearing for the day, even inside the office.
[hijack]Macclesfield? Macclesfield? Have you been to Alderley and seen the Wizard’s spring? I wanted to stop there on my way north three years ago when I was taking a month’s holiday in the UK, but I just couldn’t work it into the schedule. Dang it. [/hijack]
Tis 27 F here south of Chicago and the sun is brilliant. No fog, no clouds, no snow (melted into ice pockets over the past few days–I prefer snow).
It’s been mild and damp here in Toronto, with temperatures within a few degrees of freezing. There have been flurries, and the ground is white with snow. We were colder a couple of weeks ago; it got down to -10 C one day and I was near ther lower limit of my long coat and sweater combo (which includes mitts, scarf, and toque at need, plus short urban boots). I almost broke out the parka and tall winter boots.
We’re about to get pasted by a winter storm on the weekend, though.
Why don’t you folks in England insulate and seal your houses?
I think it’s 8 here. The house smells stuffy, but my husband will kill me if I open some windows. Maybe I’ll simmer some potpourri.
Got above zero already today! Big day!
Some of us do, myself f’rinstance.
You have to bear in mind that we English aint as rich as you North Americans and also our winters aint really all that bad compared to yours.
Been yonks since we had any snow, leastways around here
It was -18 C yesterday, or essentially 0 F. A fine day to realize my coolant level was low and I drove to work (25 minutes) with absolutely no heat. I fixed that last night.
It’s a balmy -11 C at the moment.
Right now here in the mountains in Idaho is is 9F. When I went out shopping earlier it was something like 15F. And I was perfectly fine. (Except that my iPod died halfway to the store, but that’s another thread.)
Buncha wimps on this board, though not everybody posting in this thread. Apparently winter agrees with me.
I had frost on my windshield two days in a row. When I checked here, it said that it didn’t get down to 32 last night, but that’s in the port. I’m a little further inland, and I had the frost as proof.
I’m in an old house (1920’s) with rattling windows, no insulation (yes, it’s on my list), and a floor heater in the dining room. At nights, I really appreciate my dog. The cats help some, too.
Is that 2…Celsius? Because today it started off at -6F and warmed up to +4F and we have a foot of snow on the ground.
It’s 7 F here at the moment (- 15 C). With windchill factored in, it’s on the cool side.
It’s going to be 31 tonight. There is a severe weather alert and it’s all over the news. It might even FREEZE!! Oh my god, run for your lives!
But it’s way too cold for me- once you’ve lived here a while you can’t tolerate cold anymore, even if you grew up in Michigan. It was mid-50’s and sunny today and I was so cold (with a jacket on), I thought I might die.
Should’ve taken the trains in fascist Italy.
(Okay, okay. I know that wasn’t really true.)
So what you’re saying is, even your BIRDS are flippin’ wimps?!?
-15F this morning. Gives you that tingle in the nose. Thank god for heated seats.
-2.5C here, at least according to the digital thermometer in the town square. More to the point, it’s snowing. REALLY snowing. Lots and lots of snow. Since last winter it barely snowed at all, this is a new experience for me. I’m a little concerned, seeing as it strikes me unlikely that my town owns, say, a snow plow.
This could be interesting.
