I had a Drumstick for my lunch dessert. At least that’s going for me.
Yummmm… I buy the mini-Drumsticks (‘Lil’ Drums) by the box, they are my “go to” bedtime snack. I try to keep it to one a night but sometimes I cheat.
I can’t buy single serving ice cream treats - they’re too easy to grab. Did you know a 6-pack of Klondikes is a single serving!
Good afternoon everyone;
Spent last week in Dallas not driving to Houston, for which I was glad. Returned home Sunday.
Now prepping for any Irma related news activities.
My roof leaked (again), so I’ll be spending the weekend dealing with that.
I refuse to buy ice cream for I am incapable refusing temptation. Alas I bow to the pressure of fruit pies from the local supermarket, which I enjoy greatly.
That’s all I got. Back to your regular programming.
There’s also Salad, Village, Moss, Lime, etc…
Welcome back, Tugig! I was wondering how you fared. Sounds like it was mostly a wasted effort. Hope you got a good story or two out of it.
Happy Birthday Midget!!!
Beyond that, not much is happening. I took Miss Pepper Pup for a walk in a light drizzle. We had fun. The sun is out now, and we can actually see it! It looks like we washed out some of the smoke.
Fingers crossed the lightning that came with the rain did not start any new fires.
Happy Thorsday!
I made a pot roast in the slow cooker with carrots, N.O.T., and onions. I cooked some peas and beans with okra and cornbread to go with the roast. YUM! Plus leftovers for tomorrow night. WIN-WIN!
Happy Midget Day!
Finally got the internet connected at home. It’s only been a week (and I’ve been down the liberry to use the free wifi there for a bit most days), but it feels longer.
It’s quite odd, having a week with almost nothing to do. No internet, no irk (enrollment is next Tuesday, and I ain’t looking for a part time job until I have a better idea of how much free time I’ll have), not even much cleaning, as the place was already clean, no friends locally (well, the guy who has the bees is lovely, but I’ve not seen much of him), no money to spend on fun stuff… A week of reading books, baking bread, exploring the area and doing craft stuff I’ve been putting off for years due to having no space. Somewhere between restful and boring.
The place is nice, if quiet, some of the local countryside is gorgeous, the bees seem to be settling in nicely, and I’m really enjoying having a kitchen and living room to myself.
My supper was a bowl of cereal. Just didn’t feel like cooking.
Daughter called - she and her husband are going to Ocala to stay with her grandparents - they’ll leave after work tomorrow. I feel a little better about that - she’ll be a real help to her mid-80s grandparents. Plus she gets to tell them in person about her baby.
I’ll work half a day tomorrow. Beyond that, who knows what the weekend holds…
Feel better bumba!
Happy birthday emily!
I took three days off and came back to a big problem in the department. One of our counters is on suspension pending review for termination. He had been shortcutting process in a way that could cost us fiscal certification and when our new person refused to do it as well, he got on a forklift and followed her around the warehouse very closely, honking the horn and yelling “backstabber”. Needless to say, if his wife weren’t in management, his butt would have been out the door. I look for that to happen anyway.
I got nuttin. Going to a picnic Sunday. Horse show Saturday watching not participating. I never have ice cream in the house cuz I don’t care about it. Cookies, however…
Happy birthday Midget! I hope you have a happy and healthy year.
I was a good daughter today. I called my mom who said, oh, my phone might lose its charge so don’t worry if you can’t get in touch with me.
Which led me to “don’t you have a charger”? “I can charge it in my car.” No, an external charger. “Where would I get that?” Had no idea.
“Um, mom, do you have any lanterns?” No, remember, we use candles. “And I have a flashlight.” Oh dear.
So now en route from Amazon.com:
[ul]
[li]One regular external charger that you charge via the wall or computer;[/li][li]One combo solar lantern/external charger;[/li][li]Two solar lanterns.[/li][/ul]
She’s fine with everything else – she’s been there for forty years, we’ve done this before. Bought water at the beginning of the season and is moving it into the house bit by bit. Lots of food. TP. Bourbon. Medications. But I didn’t like the idea of her not having the ability to charge her phone, nor the idea of her using candles (even in the hurricane lamps) because she has rambunctious teenaged cats!
Trailer? River? It looked like winds were forecast to be 100MPH in central FL the last time I looked (which admittedly was midday). Also, decide fast – I know too many people who got stuck in gridlock on I-95, I-75, and I-10 during Floyd (the Cat 5 that was supposed to directly hit Jacksonville in 1999).
Be safe!
I’m late to the party but add a bunch from me to my favorite Canadian!
On another note, there is a ton of overtime available next week already but I get the two desk towers back from repair Sunday and can use the time to finish sanding and getting some stain on them. So methinks I will be telling Da Jungle to bugger off.
So at this point Irma may hit me Tuesday. Or BigKitty. Or red. At this point I’m suprised there isn’t a model showing it making a beeline* for Nut. At least Premium has gone down to $2.96, and tomorrow is (finally) payday, so I can top up the Volvo before the storm.
GrandMoooommmm!, she could name the child “Gang”![]()
Welcome back, Tuigig! You getting a break ,or a quick flight to the South next week?
:eek::eek::eek:
Yeah, at this point it’s just a formality ,kinda like the Toronto Maple Leaf’s season.
Glad you like the new place, Nut. Even if you can’t afford to explore it yet.
Happy Birthday Midget!!!
[sup][sup]*You see what I did there?[/sup][/sup]
I know quite a few Kelly’s, both male & female.
What about what we should call her? FairyChatGranmama?
Nothing to do? Nothing to do?
Put some mustard in your shoe,
Fill your pockets full of soot,
Drive a nail into your foot…
Bourbon is good, Scotch is better.
Absolutely beautiful day here, coached and went to a Bored…I mean Board meeting.
Keeping an eye on Irma, if it gets west of Florida it’ll probably hit the Gulf Coast and I’m a 100 miles closer than Red. Not going anywhere, but could get damp outside. Looks like we’ll know by Sunday.
ruble, happiness is being able to tell the boss to go fly a kite.
All y’all take care now.
Regarding baby names, SIL suggested Peter Isaac, for the initials. I told my daughter to roll up a newspaper and whack him upside the head.
Speaking of whom, I’m glad they’ll be with the grandparents during the storm, but from the latest forecasts, no part of FL, with the possible exception of Pensacola, will be hurricane-free. I know they’re adults and all that, but  Stoopit Irma.
I’m in the office for about 4 hours, then outta here. No specific plans for the weekend - I may actually dust!
Other than that, it’s another grand and glorious day in paradise. Happy Firday!
