Feel free to tell her that…from a safe distance. I vaguely remember someone saying that to me when I was pregnant, once. ![]()
She shall change her tune when she needs you to babysit.
The 800 miles between us makes babysitting unlikely…
Leftovers from last night have been ingested and are now all gone. OK gone for good by sometime tomorrow.
The kitchen is all clean and OYKW is about to soak in the tub. All is well at da cave. Tomorrow mornin’ I shall be at the church house to participate in the mowage of the back forty. I’m promised a cold beerverage afterward. Enticement enough for me.
Since I had a huge lunch, supper was a dish of ice cream.
If you feel a disturbance in The Force tomorrow, it’s because I plan to <brace yourselves> dust. It’s gotten bad enough that it bothers me, so you know it’s pretty dusty. Probably because of the windows being open so much. And, of course, gotta vacuum up hunks of Ziva, as always.
At least we’re not dealing with the hurricane except for worrying.
But such a small trip to be with your Grandchild!
:dubious:
Are you certain that is…wise? A quantum disturbance of that sort could disturb the very fabric of the space time continuum!
Well, let’s see…
Texas and the east coast is under water. (Or soon will be.)
The west coast is on fire
The country is being run by thieves, scoundrels and morons.
I’d say the space time continuum is already disturbed.
And if it ain’t, it should be! :dubious:
Butters I know you’ve made up your mind, and you may not get a chance to read this, but just in case, are you sure you can’t leave? The news about the Keys and Irma is looking bad. I’m really worried about you.
Take care down there butters!
Today was meh. Fat Mo’s fixed supper. Now it’s chillage until time to take the dog outside.
Ages and ages ago when I was living with Uncle Tommygun and Aunt Shebuto and all the crew he came home from work one day and asked if any of us kids wanted to go to where they were building Frances Slocum Park. Now with Uncle Tommygun you have to understand it was NOT acceptable to answer a question with some silly question like “why” so we basically said sure and all piled in the van. When we got there he pulled out some kite kits, the old simple paper and balsa kind, some string and we all went to town playing with them. He took pictures of us flying them and had a couple of us use his good camera to take some pictures of him flying one. When we got him he disappeared into his darkroom and we got ready for bed. And never really thought about it again. We often did silly things just because we could.
It wasn’t until years and years later that I found out one of his engineers/bosses had told him to “go fly a kite” that morning. And the next day all over PPGs facility were pictures of him doing so captioned “Never let it be said Tommygun doesn’t follow the engineers specifications”.
Yeah ------ in my case it is genetic. ![]()
Dinner was leftover meatballs the OW brought home from work at the Cat-House (it has less stigma than admitting she works with lawyers) and tomorrow I have to be up early for hunter education. So shortly I am shaking hands with Mr Pillow. See ya’ll later and all of you in the south be safe.
Pepper pup is feeling poorly. She’s thrown up several times now. It smells like soap. I can’t figure out how she would have gotten into any soap, but it sure looks like she did. She’s drinking water, but not interested in food. I’ll see if her stomach calms down. If not, I guess we’ll be visiting the vet. (She’s off digging a hole in one of my garden beds, so she can’t be that ill.)
(I hate, hate, hate this green highlight.)
Still have time to leave early in the am even though the winds are picking up already. The storm has not done a dang thing they have said it’s gonna do. I am not certain it will run right into me though that is what they are saying. Hubs wants me to go. He will not go though.
My colleague is here with her cats and for some reason she does not want to go which surprises me. I have been looking for hotels in Miami  because I know the road is clear to Miami.
We are moving in the morning to the fortress. My car is parked on a little high spot in the hopes it will not flood. Storm is not supposed to hit full force until Sunday AM.
Little known fact. In the 1800’s a Catholic nun built a Grotto at the Catholic Church in KW. It was to protect KW from a direct hit of a hurricane. People go to this Grotto during hurricane threats and pray and light candles. During hurricane Wilma the candles stayed lit even in rain. In the 26 years I have lived here we have had many smalls hurricanes and even bigger ones but never a direct hit on Key West. Affects yes, total anniliation no. My employee, Ms. Judy, who stayed in KW went to the Grotto today and lit candles.
The storm is riding the coast of Cuba now which will weaken it a bit. This was never forcast. The tv is saying a Florida hit not Keys hit anymore. Local channels here anyway. The storm has slowed and is moving about 14 miles an hour. I live on one of the largest islands in the chain but still a very small island. The house we will move to tomorrow is very well built with two stories on stilts. The stairwell will be the inside room if needed. Concrete construction with whole house generator. If that house is not safe we are doomed. Our EOC’s and jail are all Cat 5 rated. As a last resort shelters were opened in all the high schools which are all fairly new. After Andrew building codes are very strict.
We may all die but I really don’t think so. People I know who left had to drive 20 hours just to get to Orlando which is only an 8 hour drive due to gridlock. Gas is scarce even though I have enough for over 400 miles in my car. The interstate and Turnpike today were a mess. Tomorrow will be a much better travel day if only out of the Keys.
We shall see. I will update. I don"t expect to lose power for any length of time. Once this is over if there is lots of destruction I will leave. The job posted today that the orders we have received are good until the 16th but to see if we can extend it even longer. I guess they expect to have major damage. Again if my house does blow away the Navy will house and feed us until we can rebuild even if only in a FEMA type trailer.
Worked, came home. Drinking a Yuegling Oktoberfest.
Be safe Butters.
Just got a call to report to base for flight. I am out. With Louie and friend and cats. Perry won’t go.
Take care Butters.
Take care. And be safe, Perry.
