I inadvertently bought some. I thought I was buying store brand Pecan Sandies. How do you screw up shortbread? It’s got the most basic ingredients. And how do you make it taste like bacon? They even smell bacony.
I got the strange feeling that the OP was trying to imply that bacony tasting shortbread would be bad. And here I thought that she was going to brag about Baconating™ her cookies on purpose.
I like savory shortbread. Cheese is yummy, and I’d probably like bacon, too. It’s just a shock if you’re expecting something sweet. That’s happened to me before, and when I figured out it was supposed to be cheesy, not sweet, it was good.
Hey, I’ve got a recipe for bacon-flavoured cookies. I call 'em “cheese bickies” because I can’t remember the recipe’s real name. They’re like shortbread: flour, butter, but a lot of grated sharp cheddar cheese and real, not the gross fake, bacon bits.
They’re intoxicatingly delicious.
From now on, though, they’re going to be called BACON COOKIES.
If you ever wanted to give someone a real taste shock, drop a single M&M into their bag of Skittles (or vice versa) when they’re gone. Sit back and watch the reaction. Whee!
I’m so mean. Especially since I hate when that happens, too. Bacon flavoured shortbread… ugh. Then again, I’m not fond of bacon flavoured anything, since it leaves a nasty aftertaste. Real bacon is fine. Gassy bacon aftertaste, not so much.
