Bad, bad, bad Beck is singing and dancing to the same old tune. Or... Back to rehab

I was in Chicago/Michigan and off the grid for awhile. I’m glad to see you’re making progress. It can’t be easy to try to talk to strangers, so kudos on that. Wait 'til they find out you’re Bigfoot!

Good to see you back. I was beginning to think I’d have to start a thread about “bad, bad, bad Beck isn’t checking in with us often enough”.

Who’s forcing you out of your comfort zone with respect to speach?

I cannot say.
:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

OK, I cackled over that one.

Good you are back. I was beginning to worry.

YAY!!!

The Bekkers is back!

Sweetie, I can empathize with your communication difficulties. We’ve talked about this before. My hearing loss essentially puts me in my own little world, and most people don’t want to exert themselves to talk to me. Or if they do, THEY TALK REALLY LOUD and dumb down their words, because people who are deaf must OBVIOUSLY be stupid, too.

These (expletive deleted) masks make it impossible for me. I told a lab rat who needed to do a blood draw on me, that I was deaf and couldn’t understand him if he wore the mask.

What did he do? His great understanding of the situation was to leave the mask in place, and lean over to WHISPER in my ear.

Sometimes, I just want to…well, I guess I can’t threaten, because violence against others might be flagged, and the cops will show up at my door.

I won’t be able to understand them, either.

Oh, @VOW,
Like I said about you in the past, we are sisters and clearly a mismatched pair.
You need to hear, I need a mouth. And you obviously have a voice.

I get the loud talking too, alot of people do that.
What gets me is: I have cards made that say “I’m mute but I hear.” …They immediately start screaming their words. So dumb.

Can you read sign language?

:face_with_hand_over_mouth: tee-hee

@Beckdawrek

I’ve taken a few classes in Sign Language, but I’m not fluent. The kids and I took a community class in Sign Language, and that ended up being fun. The kids used SL to argue and fight in Church.

I lipread. I’ve had no formal training, I just picked it up over the years.

And I depend a helluva lot on Mr VOW.

You and I would have so much fun together!

Is your phone still broken?

It’s still acting stoopid.
My tablet can post on the Dope.

But I do have phone service at the moment, if you must know,

And I do like them french fried taters!

So true. Fun could be had!!

I learned sign language kinda early.
So it stuck.
The last 2 years we’ve dusted it off.

During my several surgeries and mishaps, accidents and the like it’s been needed.
I’ve steadily needed it more and more.
Anxiety has been my middle name.

I’m really trying to be able to speak.
A little each day.

Weirdly, as I’ve spoken more I feel the stuttering rearing it’s ugly head.

P.S. my kids made up their own sign language. They were arguing with it, as kids will.
I have a few of my own signs, as well.

I’m glad you are back with us Beck. You have such a great way with written words that I feel I can hear you speaking them. Even if you aren’t/can’t. I’m sorry for your boredom and I feel for you about anxiety as I go there far too frequently myself.

Keep up with the PT so you can go home soon. Thanks for making our days by posting.

You are just so nice to say those things.
I feel valued on the Dope, like nowhere else.

It’s a new sensation for me.

Love all you guys, really and truly.

Thx to all!!

:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

We love you, Beck. Also really and truly.

And are very glad that you found your voice here.

(I think you may be valued elsewhere more than you think. Look at what happened with JoJo. All those people who came together to save that cat’s life – because you spoke up for him, in whatever form of speaking.)

Now if only we can get her to Shut Up! :face_with_peeking_eye:

@Gatopescado

Don’t you have a fish fry somewhere to attend?
