Thanks for the ego stroke Snooooop, but I don’t think it’s me. Although, having a dedicated drinker in the group is never a bad idea.
I tried to see if there were any sort of tradition around Boston Dopefests (I was thinking Back Bay Dopers to compliment Bay Area Dopers – kind of a travelling come drink with Jack thing) … didn’t work out.
I’m not entirely sure there even are any other Dopers in New England. But I shall keep my eyes peeled.
I tell you though, I can’t wait to get back there (Buddha only knows when that will be) to see all you weird people again.

*OK kids, this is my proposal for Saturday night -
6:30 - meet someplace in downtown Oakland for dinner. I was thinking of Le Cheval at 1007 Clay Street on the corner at 10th. It’s good, not too spendy Vietnamese food, and it’s only a couple of blocks from bart. I think there are quite a few veggie options on the menu. I’m completely open to suggestions if anybody has a better idea.
After dinner we can move things to my place where we can hang out until thinksnow makes an appearance. I (or someone) can leave at 9 to get him at the airport and bring him back to drop his stuff off. From there we can decide to either stay put, go to Lucky 13 (cool bar we hung out at last time, about 2 miles from my house), or go bowling, or any combination thereof. *
I’m down with it, even though it means some driving. I’d be happy to pick up anyone between Petaluma and Oakland, too.
And Jack, we miss you!
Whatever we decide to do after picking up ** thinksnow**, let’s try to make it under 21 friendly. I am down with a bar, or whatever, if I can get in (I don’t even have to drink, I just want to be able to get inside, and I look really young for my age, so there is no chance of fudging it).
Is Lucky 13 anywhere near BART? I’m not really interested in Vietnamese and definately don’t want to be out driving on St. Pat’s weekend.
Dude, yeah there is. It totally doesn’t matter what you look like. Can you borrow someone else’s ID? A sister or an older friend or something? Unless the bar or whatever is real strict about it, all you basically need is someone’s valid ID that isn’t obviously not yours, especially when you’re with a bunch of people that actually are over 21.
I don’t think I can do Saturday night. As it turns out, I’ve got to do a shoot for my film class Sunday morning, which puts a cap on how late I can stay out Saturday if I don’t want to be snoring into my viewfinder. Oh, well. Maybe next time.

voguevixen: Lucky 13 is in Alameda, not particularly close to BART. However, we’ve decided to go to the Spaghetti Factory in Jack London Square instead of Vietnamese.

Dunno about shuttles (you might wanna check Transitinfo for that), but JLS is a relatively short walk from either Lake Merritt or 12th St BART stations.
