BAD Dopfests

So, back on the Fake MB, we had decided to hold a BADfest, preferably in the North Bay. I asked people to come up with a good place and time. Any ideas?

There are things to do in the North Bay???

YES. We tip cows and pick grapes! Come on, doesn’t that sound fun?

I (still) vote for somewhere in Marin. It’s sort of centrally located, so folks in San Francisco, the East Bay, and parts further North can all get there easily. (Also, I live there, and won’t have to go very far to get wherever we go.)

I have to vote for Santa Rosa or Petaluma, cause that is closer to where I live, and I know the area better. I have and uncanny ability to get totally lost if I don’t know exactly where I am going. However, if I had too, I would go farther south.

I was beginning to think the BADs were in deep freeze as far as Dopefests.

Hey, i’ll be a BAD on March 31st, when i move into town! can i come?

I am going to put a vote in for the Santa Rosa/Petaluma area too. I don’t know if my vote counts though, because unless we hold the Dopefest on Sunday, I can’t come.:frowning:

FWIW, Marin would definitely be easier for me than further north. San Rafael maybe? Much further and i’d need to get a ride from someone (not that there aren’t bound to be ppl driving up anyhow).

Well, I guess that it sounds like we are having more votes for San Rafael area. Since I have no idea what is available in that area, any one have any ideas on an actual location?

bump

Come on people. Any idea’s? If not, I am going to start making suggestions in Santa Rosa.

Hey I don’t know y’all well and I might be out of town that weekend anyway but how about Santa Cruz? Or is that too far south? I’m a relative newcomer to the area so I’d like to meet people. I’ve heard good things about Santa Rosa too, but you are the experts.

I heard a rumor that folks might be getting together this Saturday. I know I’d be up for meeting you fine folks, maybe hoisting a beverage in honor of Patrick, the Saint of…uh, drinking?

Actually, SeaDiver came up with the brilliant plan to go drinking at some Irish pub on Friday night in the City. I don’t know if I could take two St. Patrick’s Day parties in a row, although it certainly SEEMS like a good idea.

I think a big problem with the San Rafael idea is that there aren’t actually any Dopers who live in San Rafael - or Marin at all, as far as I know - and no one knows any restaurants. So I am going to recommend Dempsey’s Alehouse in Petaluma. It’s only about 25 minutes farther north than San Rafael, and it’s about a 5 minute drive from my house, so nah. Saturday at say…3?

I’m busy the weekend, but the Friday night drinking sounds fabulous to me. So put down one vote for that happening, if you’ll have me.

This is one doper who lives in Marin. About five minutes from San Rafael, actually. (And, being carless, this makes it a lot easier for me to get to) There are any number of good bars and restaurants down along fourth street, but at the moment I’m at a loss to think of the name of a single one.

Oh, there’s the Mayflower, an English-style pub. Nice place. They do dinners, too. There are a couple of bars down the other end of the street that have live music every night, too.

I think I could make an afternoon thing. I’m going to be shooting a Stanford women’s basketball playoff game in the evening, but it’s starting ridiculously late. On the other hand, a three-hour drive up and three hours back when I’d only be able to stay a couple of hours … hmm. I hate to miss Dopefests, rare as they are these days (I think Jack Batty might have been the glue that held our will to socialize together).

OK, maybe not three hours – that would be Santa Rosa. I’m in favor of the southernmost location that is pleasing to everyone.

Well, wherever we go, I will have to be able to get in. I still have 5 months before the big 2-1. If anyone knows of any bars or whatever where this won’t be a problem, that would be great.
As for times, I work Saturday until 4, but otherwise, I am completely open. It will take about an hour for me to get to Petaluma from whereever I am coming from. Since I am the one that suggested this in the first place, I would really love to be able to come.

Whoops, I forgot to change the user name. That was me. :o
