To me it looks like a “domino” mask to protect the secret identities of alien grey superheroes.
I worked for more than 5 years for the engineering firm AMEC now called “Amec Foster Wheeler”.
While I was an employee there they insisted for branding purposes that their name must be represented in all caps though nobody knew what it meant, only that it wasn’t an acronym. I suppose they no longer capitalize it so that people no longer suspect it to be an acronym.
To add further confusion, the logo was all in lowercase letters and included what was sometimes described as a blob, or an olive.

It was intended to be a “touchstone” to indicate that the company was trustworthy. It doesn’t look anything like a touchstone to me which is usually a slate.
The company’s current logo looks like a pie chart exploding, as if someone tried to weaponize a PowerPoint slide.
