He’s too late for the earthquake, but I figure we can probably unsettle him just as much. We’re angling for lunchtime on Saturday the 25th (May) and since he and his companion are youngsters and on a tight budget, we’re thinking Tommy’s Joynt on Geary & Van Ness might be the most interesting bang for the buck. http://www.tommysjoynt.com/ (Thanks for the suggestion, Sassy.)
Let me know who’s interested. Since I have to come a ways I’d prefer a late-ish lunch, around 1 or 1:30 to give me time to oversleep, etc. Let me know if anyone has any ideas, objections, random comments, etc. Hope to see you there!
I heard Snooooopy’s birthday is that week, so we should get together and have a surprise party for him! Also, I heard MattK is coming to visit us that weekend, so maybe we could smush that in with the birthday thing and show him around and stuff!
How about Saturday, May 25th at (say) 1:30 PM?
And I was thinking we should meet at Tommy’s Joynt! Wouldn’t that be fun?
Oh, but no one tell Snooooop about it… let’s keep it a surprise. What does everyone think?
Y’know I’ve lived in Oakland (just down Skyline from Redwood and Sibley) and have had a great view of San Francisco for about 6 months now and only been in to the city 3 times, so I think we’re about due. I think I’ll be there, it sounds like it could be fun.
No drinking for us two I guess…
We’ll still have fun though, I’m sure. What’s this not-under-21 bar thing? As soon as bars serve alcohol, we’re not allowed in?
MattK, there are bar-only type places were no one under 21 is allowed in, period. There are restaurants with bar areas that anyone is allowed in so that mom & dad can do some shots to settle their nerves while dining out with the kiddies. I’m 99% sure you won’t have a problem getting into Tommy’s as it’s pretty much a cafeteria with a bar along one wall. If it turns out there’s a problem we’ll head down the block to Max’s or…Chevy’s!!! (because I know you love it so!)
Who wants to go in with me on a camera for Snooooopy that doesn’t make people look like they’ve been hit repeatedly with a rake? (I’ve dubbed that thing the “Blemishmaster 2000”)
Well, if you and your friend are actually interested in drinking, MattK, I’ve been to plenty of Chevy’s that weren’t too aggressive about carding entire parties for margaritas. I’m sure there are other places that are similarly lax, especially in the middle of the day (they are not aware that afternoon drinking is where it’s at).
I just rewrote this post after my first try timed out, and I remember there were two paragraphs, but I can’t remember what this one was supposed to be about. So I don’t really have anything else to say.
No, we’re not really interested in drinking. We get enough of that here. My friend might think a little different about that, though.
But I told him there would be no alcohol in CA, and it’d be a good change if he were sober for a week.
There are probably about a million places in SF where an underage person can drink, but you won’t be doing it anywhere within my vicinity, as I like to refrain from anyone being jailed as a result of going to lunch. Jesus bawls when we break laws! (Besides, you can get all liquored up when you get back to Germany, right?) There’s nothing preventing you from splitting a bottle of Muscatel with one of the winos outside before I get there though, I suppose.
White Lightning is owed one spanking (by me!) for even suggesting it. For shame!
What am I peddling?!?! Did you mean pedophilia, because White Lightning is over 18, and as far as I know you can’t get a license for that anyway!
Well, that not for us to decide, is it? It’s for the businessowner who will potentially lose his license to decide, eh? You consarn whippersnappers! Now GET OUT OF MY YARD!
