Bailout deal agreed to. McCain's"leadership" not required.

Money first.

Bailout Deal Appears To Fall Apart After McCain And House GOP Push Surprise Alternate Proposal

http://thinkprogress.org/

(Yeah, its a lefty site, if the facts are wrong, sneer at me, if not, bite me…)

This is developing, and as yet there is no confirmation that this is Big John’s…

But if it is, please visualize the following in 1,280 pt type: WTF!?

From here.

So…it looks like McCain might be instrumental to getting a deal made. Heh.

Of course, the claims are already being made that the fix is in.

The scary thing is, we all know how that election turned out.

It sounds like the Dems maybe wanted him to tell his bitches in the House to stop fucking around and grow the fuck up and quit being douches at the meeting, but McCain just sat there like a twat.

And of course the fix is in.

Whose?

Be really cool if it was our turn. Been a loooong time.

And guess what’s in the McCain proposal.

Oh, yeah, that’s gonna play well.

And Chris Dodd calls the WH meeting a “disaster” and says he’s “simply going to pretend that the meeting had never happened.”

John McCain the firefighter: “Hey, I’ve got some oily rags I can use to help you put this out!”

This is what I don’t understand: Bush supports it. Senate Dems and Repubs support it. House Dems support it. House GOP and McCain are opposed.

Did I miss a constitutional amendment somewhere that legislation requires unanimous support? Pass it in the House over GOP objections and sign the bill into law… Why does everyone need to be on board?

My guess would be that the Dems want political cover. If you get most of the Republicans to vote for it, they can’t turn around and bitch about it afterwards.

To be fair, everything I’ve read suggests that the House Republicans are True Believers in fiscal conservatism. Many are the same folks who constantly pissed off fellow Pubs with crazy talk about “no more earmarks” and such.

I think this might be McCain struggling for a solution to the dilemma Biggirl mentions, especially if he himself really doesn’t think the bailout will work.

At White House, McCain Plays Bailout Spoiler | HuffPost Latest News McCain sabotaged the deal. At least this article says that. He wanted to squeeze in a couple more breaks for the companies. I guess 700 billion is not enough.
It may be he wants to hold up the deal til after the debate has to be canceled. It may be he will wait to the last second to appear to be saving the deal from the brink . But in any case he seems to be playing politics when the country needs help.

Probably a good thing you don’t have my job. I sit in Minnesota and manage people in California, Colorado, China, France, Pennsylvania, Thailand…if I had to walk over to people to get them to do anything, I’d fail at my job.

Ha ha ha! Right. You mean the Chris Dodd who is the chair of the Senate Banking Committee and the top recipient of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae contributions? Talk about being asleep at the switch!

Or worse . . .

So McCain’s “plan” calls for:

  1. more deregulation
  2. tax cuts for big business

Are you fucking kidding me?

Hey, it’s regulation that got us into this mess. If they hadn’t abolished debtors prisons people would have paid up.

Meanwhile my own senator, Richard Shelby [R- AL] seems to have gotten pissed off and stormed out of the meeting (while singing something about molasses and rum and slaves). I think the Pubs may be self-mutilating in their attempt to pander. I think they’re getting text messages on polling numbers ever 2 minutes from their handlers- also that the walk-out was probably planned.
