The Reader has apparently agreed to give space in honor of Wally for about two weeks. This is an excellent offer I think we should get on the ball with.
I have designed two simple banners that can be used by the Reader with no restrictions. Please note that I kept them as simple as possible. The over use of graphics in banners in my opinion is too distracting.
Anyhow, please let me know what you think or submit your own for comments.
I believe that we should have a banner up within the day or so. Just my opinion.
Which transition do you like better? I have more that I can mess around with but I thought those two were the best. I could also create my own but I haven’t messed around with animated gifs that much.
techchick - very nice! I find the simplicity of the design to be highly appropriate.
My preference is for the third. In fact, I looked at the first two (all that showed on my screen) and thought ‘I like the colors in the first one, but I like the text transition in the second’. Then I scrolled down and voila!
And thanks to the Reader! Really nice of them to do this.
If there is a vote, techie, I vote for the blue one too. It’s a beautiful color, and has a ‘royal’ kind of feel to it, calm and I’d almost say ‘serene’ but right now, I don’t feel serene or calm. Good job, and I think it’s wonderful that the Chicago Reader is considering doing this.
Running that page slowed down my browser but then maybe its just cause of all them at the same time. I like one that does not animate as it loads faster & wont slow down zee computer.
To confirm, I’ve talked to the honchos at the Reader, and they’re happy to donate sitewide banner space for a couple weeks. Once you’ve decided on a design, send me the file and I’ll pass it along to Jerry.
I think this is a wonderful gesture on the part of techchick and especially the Reader. Thank you. And I, too, would like to vote for the third option.
