Barbecue Bat-Dope: Let's Dopefest Austin Style

Bump! So, y’all, are we still on for the 14th? Inquiring minds want to know.

I’m so sorry that you won’t be able to make it, Tapioca Dextrin. I hope to see you again soon.

I’m still on for the 14th.

14th still works for me, too. Now… what time?

Do we want to do this early, like around 2pm, or closer to dinnertime?

Sunday nights at the Salt Lick can get rather crowded… so I suggest an early meal for us.

Since it’s a Sunday, I think 2-ish would work better. We would have time to discuss burning topics like crappy movies and butt cleavage at length, and everyone could still be home in time to get up for work the next day.

I forgot to ask off of work, so the sooner the better. I’m trying to get someone to cover my shift, but if not, I’ll need to be back by five. Hence, 1:00-2:00 would be nice.
But that’s just me.

Looks like 2pm this next Sunday is the plan… Looking forward to seeing all of you. After this last weekend, I need some fun- “boring” is a good description of my weekend.

Does anyone have a street address for the Salt Lick, so I can map directions from San Antonio?

Robin

Robyn, here’s the address:
Salt Lick BBQ
18300 Fm Rd 1826, Driftwood, TX 78619
(512) 858-4959

I’m still planning on being there.

Jim

Oh, good. 2pm works for me, I’ll be there, and it looks like Mr Bear will get to be also. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you there. I see Jim is coming from the DFW area, any other Texans coming?

Karyn

I’ll be stopping on by, and I believe Ballybay is still planning on making an appearance as well, so there’s two more for the table.

This is the day-before-bump. Let’s see, if I read this right…

Am I missing anyone? Any changes? I know there are more Austinites. Y’all come too!

Looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow.

I’m gonna have to go into the “possible” category, I’m afraid. Minnesota and ChiDope took a lot out of me, and I’m going to have to see how I feel before I make such a long trip. Apologies. :frowning:

Robin

Robin, why don’t you catch a ride with Mr Bear and I tomorrow? That way, you wouldn’t have to drive. We have a mini van, so there is always room for another person or person and a half. I’m sorry you’re tired out, but I certainly understand that. Email me, or call me if you still have my phone number, and we can work out the arrangements.

Silly me. Or, turn your AIM back on, and we can talk there if you like.

I’ll be there too. hopefully on time this time.

Bringing a guest, because hey, who doesn’t like to consume lots of dead meat?

Inchworms, apparently.

I think I brought one of Eini’s friends home with me. There’s an inchworm on my computer “desk” right now. Ah, barbecue and bugs, what more could you want. I had a great time today, it was good seeing those who showed up on time ::and Elvis twists the knife::  We’ll have to get together for Freyr’s send off sometime in June, was it? Anyway, my food coma was interrupted so it’s time I get back to digesting. I hope you all have pleasant dreams of meat and potato salad, and I’ll see you all again in a few months.

It was good to see y’all. Yup, I drove ~375 miles today to have lunch. And my herniated disc is all over me about it.

I’ll try to make Freyr’s going-away thing. Thanks, y’all - good to see everyone (burp).

Don’t forget the blowout clearance sale at Big Bob’s Noseclipper Wharehouse!

It was good to see everyone again. Did anyone else get home and collapse on the couch from barbecue overdose?

Feebly raises hand

But it was great! And such entertainment! Who’d a thought we could be so happily amused by the antics of Einstein the Inch Worm as he humped himself across the table. Unfortunately, he didn’t have taste for BBQ or for their coleslaw sides. Poor Einny, he doesn’t know what he’s missing.

And just for Ballybay:

A helicopter shot of the rolling hills just west of Austin, Texas. Slowly the camera zooms in on a woman who is singing and dancing. They her words become clear to us:

The Hill Country is alive, with the smell of BBQ! A scent that comes, from a thousand cows!..
