Oh, the joys of bathroom scales. In a matter of seconds or minutes you can gain or lose many pounds! Ours has been particularly wonky of late, so I decided to shop for a replacement.
Did you know you can get a bathroom scale that will talk to your smartphone? Supposedly they not only give your weight, but your BMI and how many calories per day are needed to maintain that weight, and who know what else… Are there people who really care about that?
Personally, I don’t care if the number is exactly right - I just want to know that there’s consistency from day to day. The trend of up or down is what matters to me, but not if I’ve magically lost 5# in the time it takes to brush my teeth! I’m pretty sure there wasn’t that much gunk built up overnight. At least I hope not! :eek::eek:

We have a set of electronic bathroom scales. It tells us how much we weigh. That’s all I ask of a bathroom scales. I care not for it to tell me my life history.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Morning all. This is the week I journey up to the Big Town (Nashville) to see an Irish music group I’ve been a fan of for many years (The Chieftains) and also hopefully meet-up with Red. So a good week no matter what. Heading to 63F today, but rain moving in tonight and tomorrow.
I have a scale, but it’s there mostly because you’re supposed to have one, not that I have any intention of stepping on it. And like the other members of the League of Old Fogeys above, I want it to tell me my weight (if I am so incautious as to step on it) and nothing else.
Keep putting books away (still have about 60 more National Geographic magazines to correlate) and probably do a little mid-month re-stockage. Might also get a box-cutter from ACE (it’s the place, I heard), since I still have a lot of de-boxing to do.
Good morning! I fell asleep watching tv with #3 daughter sometime after midnight, so of course, I woke up just before 4:00. I miss sleep.
I see the doc every three months to keep track of my A1c, so I let them weigh me. As long as I lose a couple of pounds I am happy, and since I don’t do the cooking and baking like I did when I had a growing family it seems to be easier to drop a few here and there
Since it looks as though Daughter #3 and her SO are going to stay on living with me I have decided to give them pseudonyms; numbering my girls always felt a little like ranking them by their place in my heart rather than their appearance in my life. So, Daughter #3 will be Daisy, and her SO will be Irish. Now that is settled, my Daisy girl is with child! flinging confetti with wild abandon She is 14 weeks along so I feel safe in announcing my third grandchild. They will be finding out the gender soon, which does make putting the nursery and layette together so much easier. I need yarn to crochet a couple of blankets and wee sweaters and booties, and I have no excuse to not get some fabric and begin learning to make quilts in crib size. I am very excited, and I have certainly needed something happy to focus on.
I am going to read for a bit, to see if I can find sleep again for another hour or two. Happy Moanday everyone!
I don’t own a scale. I belong to Weight Watchers and let them weight me. BTW, I’ve GAINED 11 pounds since quitting smoking. And no, the weight will not magickally disappear. It didn’t help that I ate a bag of cookies Saturday night.
Up and need to clean and do laundry and think about getting ready for Willie tonight. Hubs is irking doing a couple of easy, quick, non physical service calls. Every holiday his help goes away and he can’t say no. I’m just glad he feels like doing anything.
Just finished sweeping up FCD’s shop. It wasn’t bad - took maybe half an hour. Then I hauled 120# of pellets from the garage to the shop - via 2-wheeled dolly - the right tool for the job! I put 2 bags of pellets in the stove and set the 3rd one aside for future use.
Shortly, Daughter, Roxy, and I will head to the marine museum. We’re making good use of my membership. Then we’ll run into Aldi for 'nanners and eggs. And somewhere along the line I need to decide what we’re having for supper.
It’s a bright day, and that helps. Dreary overcast makes for not fun. I should embroider that on a pillow.

I will see the sewing repair lady today. Kiko’s favorite toy, a stuffed Mickey Mouse doll, needs some repair. There is a lady that does repairs in the market. I will tell her to use thick thread. Kiko plays rough.
Then the phone is hungry and will put some money on my account.
Probably pick up some mangos from the street vendors. They are in season now. So sweet! Been slicing them up and putting on pancakes. Nice to live in the tropics and enjoy fruit in season.

Check out this scale: Sherpa Scale. It tells you your weight trend over time rather than telling you how much you weigh. It probably would be better for most people so they don’t fret about the small day-to-day variations.
Back from the museum and lunch. Roxy has declared that moon jellies are bubbles. And her favorite part of the vortex coin collector. I need to carry more pennies and fewer quarters when we go there. And we got to see the otters frolic today. So it was a nice time overall. And now, it’s nap time.
Been a rough morning. Woke up too early, Ripple throwing up, smashed and broken fingernail, hurts like hell. I have a nail mending kit but it isn’t all that great. Better than nothing.
Had no computer this morning. Took me three hours to get it up and running.
When I woke my son to help me with the computer I got him to trim my nail back. The broken nail is on my right hand and I couldn’t clip it with my left hand.
I was going to go out to best buy and get a new computer, but I think I will order one from da jungle instead.
Too many options, too many terms I have no clue what they mean, too confusing.
But my son needs it for school and he has a paper written that is due Wednesday. If I hadn’t gotten this up and running he would have had to write it over. Although best buy could probably copy the data from this one to the new one.
Heard from a friend from the park this morning. Everybody misses me and I was told I am the glue that holds the group together.
I have to remember to pick up my scripts today. I’ll get them when I drop my son off at school, or when I pick him up. Whichever.

Did the mid-month Shopping run and also bought a utility knife which works just fine on all the boxes (so far I have not demonstrated how well it would work on my fingers…). Got all the National Geographic’s in order and shelved (for who throws away a National Geographic magazine?).

Had fun downtown. Mondays are 25% off everything at the pharmacy. I always buy on Mondays. Like my mama would say, “If it ain’t on sale, you don’t need it.”
Bought some time for the phone and now am connected. Scored some Chinese takeout. The couple who run the place are from Bejing. Know very little Spanish. But know how to cook. The broccoli is always crispy.
Went back to the phone store and bought a blue tooth speaker. Not on sale, but it is the cat’s meow. Really nice sound and looks great with genuine simulated wood box.
Then bought some fresh coconut juice. Well, here it is called aqua de coco. It is always fresh. With no preservatives it won’t keep long.
And bought some more sweet, juicy mangos.
Now, back at the fort and shaded up and digging into the Chinese food.

I lived thru the drive and clinic experience.
I only lost a few minutes of life span on the interstate. Roads were not crowded at all. Holiday, I’m guessing.
We ate at Crackerbarrel. Tasty vittles.
