Batman: The Intimidation Game

In case you don’t know much about this movie, here’s a link

I’m kind of hesitant about using both the Scarecrow and Ra’s Al Ghul. Ra’s is one of the best advisaries in comics and I just hate to see him have to share the screen time. Although apparantly Ra’s is the main antagonist with Jonathan Crane as sort of a build up. The Scarecrow can also be a pretty good bad guy if he’s written correctly.

Christian Bale as Batman. I like it.

Michael Caine as Alfred… hmmm…
Any thoughts?

Just an update on the new Batman film…

BATMAN: (THE) INTIMIDATION GAME is the current working title, but there’s talk that they’ll change the title to BATMAN BEGINS. IMO, that’s pretty lame. I’d shorten the working title to BATMAN: INTIMIDATION…

David S. Goyer - who wrote all three BLADE films, and is currently directing the third - is behind the script, and Christopher Nolan (MEMENTO and INSOMNIA) is directing…

Christine Bale plays Bruce Wayne/Batman…
Michael Caine plays Bruce’s manservant Alfred Pennyworth…
Liam Neeson plays Bruce’s mentor Henri Ducard…
Morgan Freeman plays Lucius Fox, who runs Wayne Enterprises…
Katie Holmes plays Rachel, Bruce’s childhood friend and love interest…

It’s apparently just been confirmed (The Hollywood Reporter?) that Ken Watanabe (THE LAST SAMURAI) will be playing the main villian, Ra’s Al Ghul…

Cillian Murphy has signed on, and I’ve heard he’s playing Dr. Jonathan Crane (The Scarecrow), but I don’t know if that’s been confirmed. Whether Crane becomes The Scarecrow in the film is unknown as well…

Dennis Quaid is rumored to be close to signing on to play officer Jim Gordon…
Larry Holden and Guy Pierce have been rumored to be up for the role of attorney Harvey Dent (Al Pacino, as well, but I can’t see that; he’s much too old)…
They’re looking for someone (i.e. a very large Asian fellow) to play Ra’s Al Ghul’s henchman Ubu…
And I’ve heard that there may be a mob character by the name of Carmine Falcone…

I’m wondering if Ra’s Al Ghul’s daughter Talia will show up in the film. She actually gave birth to Bruce’s child in the comics; although it may have been an Elseworlds tale (i.e. not in continuity)…

Anyhoo…

Don’t know too much about the movie, or the comics for that matter, but I do know in the storyline where Talia becomes pregnant with Bat’s baby, she’s injured and has a miscarriage.

Felt like sharing. Hopefully, this movie will be good. As long as they avoid the crappy “Let’s make a living comic book” idea the last two films tried to pull off (and failed MISERABLY), I think it should be okay. Most comic book based movies have been trying harder to ground the film in “the real world,” so if they keep that up, this movie should be good.

Christian Bale sounds like great Batman to me. Could be the best movie Batman yet.

Ken Wattanabe?

Ra’s as an Asian? (for those not in the know, he’s pretty clearly Persian in the comics, I’ve always thought Connery would be a good choice)

I dunno… Warning flags always g up when they mention a love interest for Batman too. Batman hasn’t got time for love! Except for Catwoman, and Talia, who should also be in this movie, so I don’t know why they’re wasting time with a “civillian” romance.

Sigh. It’ll be better than teh last two, at least.

What happened to Batman: Year One, based on the awesome comic, directed by Darren Aronofsky? Please don’t tell me that this was “too good” and so some studio dropped it.

2 Elseworlds

Kingdom Come- Ibn Al Xufash is the son of Bats and Talia. Ibn has killed Ras and taken over his empire.

Brotherhood Of The Bat, and the sequel The League Of Batmen- Ras killed Bats many years ago. Unknown to him, Talia has spent these years raising her son, Talant, to become the next Batman, avenger Bruce, and defeat the Demon.
Re-Ras
I still say David Warner, the man who voiced Ras for the animated series. One of the other actors in Tron said ‘He’s the frailest looking man I’ve ever seen. But, when he ordered the guards to take us away, I was convinced we were actually going to die.’ Warner could play a menacing mastermind, until rejuvenated in the Lazarus Pits for the final battle. At that point, a fight coordinator in the proper make up or with a face altered by computer could be used.
