Batshit crazy Michele Bachmann strikes again!

Look on the bright side: At least now she can’t become a full time talking head!

Damn! Well, at least I got the chance to vote for Tinky.

Actually, let’s hope she continues to be a very visible and public spokesperson for the GOP.

At least her campaign will be shining example of what not to do in the future, and I think shes learned not to say that crap in public ever again. I guess Tinklenburg was a pipe dream, but no one was ever given a shot like that from nowhere.

Don’t be so sure about that. How many people outside of Minnesota heard of Michele Bachmann before she started making her neo-McCarthyist bring-back-HUAC comments? Now that she’s been re-elected, she’ll be the media’s go-to person if they need a guaranteed-outrageous quote from the House of Representative’s resident right-wing crackpot.

BTW, what part of Minnesota does she represent? I’m still rather surprised someone like Bachmann would be elected from that state rather than someplace like the South, Texas, or Idaho.

Central Minnesota and the top half of the Twin Cities 'burbs.

Lots of conservative Catholic single-issue voters of the “Yeah, the economy’s in the toilet and we’re fighting two wars, but I won’t vote for someone who kills babies” variety.

And I don’t know about the 'burbs, but here in St. Cloud there’s been a large influx of black Muslim Somali refugees over the last 8-10 years that scares the good Christians of White Cloud.

Yes, the whole party lurched to the right in their representatives yesterday. She’s now more mainstream Republican than ever!

Well, it’s probably only 2 more years of Michelle Bachmann.

Based on population figures, Minnesota is likely to lose one of its 8 Congressional seats after the next census, and her District is the the most likely one to be gone – the most central & coterminous one, so most likely to be split among the other districts. Then she would have to run against an incumbent in their district, most likely the much stronger Betty McCollum in a much more liberal district. Bachmann would bomb!

Republicans were grooming her to be their candidate against Amy Klobuchar for the Senate seat, but might be reconsidering that now, after seeing how Bachmann runs off at the mouth.

Some republicans are suggesting Mary Kiffmeyer instead. She’s as goofy as Bachmann, but better at keeping it hidden. And she has a track record statewide, having been Secretary of State in Minnesota.

But I think that Amy Klobuchar could beat either of them.

That’s cheerful news! I’m still shocked she was elected. That must be a REALLY RED delusional district. I hope she’s marginalized in Congress. Avoided like the plague by everybody other than her fellow right wingers, except when it’s absolutely necessary for normal people to interact with her.

It’s an all red district.

Even those of us that didn’t vote for her are red from embarrassment that she won again.
Oy.

Ugh. Hate her.
When she was The County Attorney for Hennepin County she pushed us to bring more cases into court, which is fine and dandy - if she opened more courts up. I was filing motions with initial hearings 8 months out. Yeah, that’s effective. The Family Court Attorneys were stuck in the middle and it was a mess.

She opened up the possibility of pursuing criminal contempt for negligent child support payors, but there was little communication between the family courts and criminal courts. One case of mine sat in the criminal courts for over a year. I kept pushing for action - nada. By the time the looked at it, it was too late for criminal courts and it was remanded back into our courts for another useless round of civil contempt. Gee, thanks.

I don’t believe the County Attorney of one county has the authority to order that additional courts be set up. That is the responsibility of the Judicial Branch of government, and eventually, is based on the amount of funding that the Legislature appropriates.

So I don’t see how Amy Klobuchar is to blame for a backlog in the Court system. Such backlogs are pretty common nationwide, I understand.

She did have the authority to request of the Commissioners to open more magistrate courts. She did not do so. Civil contempt hearings have usually been held in judicial courts, presided over by (elected) judges or (hired) referees. Now the (hired by the state) magistrates office are starting to hear parts of civil contempt cases, which has slightly eased the courts’ burden.

But when she was pushing so strongly for us to bring more cases in without any manner for them to be heard in even a halfassed timely way - no. She was directly responsible for the delay in the Hennepin County courts. She issued the directive “FileFileFile!” to the County Attorneys. The County Attorneys in turn told our director they needed us to increase our motions. We did so (at one point I was referring 3 cases / week for civil contempt - that’s not including the requested increase in initial filings for paternity, registration of other state orders, &c). As noted, I was waiting 8 months for first hearings. On th positive side it gave us a HELL of a long time for service, but more often than not people wouldn’t attend the first hearings because they forgot. Bench warrant would be issued, tying up MORE court time… blech.

The directives without forethought - typical for government, I know.

More crap from Bachmann . . .

 Congresswoman, you do know there was a TV camera in the room?

She also denies that she was hiding in the bushes spying on a gay rights parade, even though she was caught on film. I think she eventually settled on saying her feet were tired.

She also wants the media to investigate the wild urban legend suggesting that video and audio can actually be recorded and transmitted to millions of people via, what is referred to in the dark recesses of conspiracy lore as, … The TeeVee.

What difference does it make what she called Obama? The Democrats have made it clear that you are allowed to call Obama whatever the fuck you want. Hell, I’m tempted to call Obama names just to get a committee appointment.

I’d like to call him a something too.

Mr. President.

Or was this election an Urban Legend too.

She didn’t call Obama anything.

She just said that the media should find out which members of Congress are pro-American and which are anti-American and that, to my mind, dredges up the cess pit of American politics - things like HUAC and the Hollywood Ten and Nixon’s Enemies List.

The English language doesn’t contain the words I need to express how abhorrent I find Bachmann’s views. I simply cannot make the leap from “You disagree with my political views…” to “…therefore, you are anti-American”, and that, essentially, is what Bachmann believes. It’s like saying “Faithful PETA members are nutjobs…therefore I believe in torturing puppies”.

Dissent != treason. Full stop. And I resent anyone who makes any attempt to remove the ! from that equation.

I find the language repugnant too. But if the Democratic Party leaders don’t care to defend themselves, why should I do it?

This is probably a hijack, so I’ll stop now.
