Unless there are rules posted ‘only food’, I think that would be ok. If people need food, light bulbs might also be something they need and can’t afford. Or if they can get light bulbs there, it leaves a bit more for food.

The best use for velveeta IMHO is to make a little wad of it to conceal a dog pill. (I will be doing that shortly. )
The best use of velveeta is to throw it in the trash can along with the candy corn and brussel sprouts.
I’ll take your Brussels sprouts and give you all my cauliflower.
Oh, yeah. I forgot, throw the circus peanuts and raisinettes in that trash can too.
I had a long appointment with the low vision doctor. It wasn’t as bad as I dreaded. Only a few devices helped, and I can’t afford those, but there’s an app that could help me read wall menus. That’d be great! One of the not-that-helpful devices was one I could borrow from the Lions. And she signed me up to get audio books from the state. I can read if I hold a book close enough, but they’d be nice for when my eyes hurt or are too tired. She thought I’d benefit from a cane, but she understood why I can’t handle that emotionally.
It’s a delicious day: cloudy, cool, and breezy. I’m going to go for a walk next.
boofae, I think you should have hired yourself. In fact, at the actual meeting, you could have said you hired yourself, promoted yourself to CEO, and decided to give them all raises. Fingers crossed you get the job.
flyboy, calling hot dogs “COVID dogs” would put me off them even without the mushiness factor.
mooooom, I’m with you on canned vegetables. Growing up, that’s all we had. Of course, our freezer compartment was just large enough for two ice cube trays and a half-gallon of ice cream.
No rules. It’s just a couple old bookshelves zip-tied to a fence.
Food-wise, I’m hoping to be able to get some “extra” food from the next food bank distribution I work at. Aside from fresh produce, we usually have boxes filled with non-perishables like peanut butter, beans, rice, cereal. All depends on how many people show up at the truck.
@gotpasswords
You are my kinda girl!
BBBoo - gotti’s a guy-type person.
No rain today, despite the threats earlier. I suppose we could still get some tonight. I’m going to head back early - I’s tahred…
I miss ruble’s sense of the funny. I was one of the lucky ones to have met him and OW a few years back.
boo, gotti’s a dude.
It’s been nice to watch my local news without political ads this evening (our state primary / local general elections are today). For the past month, I’ve given the news three ads that I muted before switching to streaming.
The count coordinator on the weekend shift has been trying to pick a fight with me via email for the past week, copying nearly everyone in the department. Fortunately, my boss and former boss (now an analyst in the department) both backed me up. The only thing that happened was that he showed his ass. He’s wanting to take the old bat’s place when she retires, but he’s been terrible at every job in the department since he’s been with us and, given that this isn’t the first fight he’s tried to pick across the shift lines, my boss has made up her mind that she doesn’t want him as a direct report.
Supper was a salvage operation, but a good one (I ate too much) I had just a little fresh spinach, some baby portabellas and about a quarter cup of cooked turnip greens to base a main dish on, so I combined it with eggs and grated some parm to make a Florentine omelet hillbilly style. With the last of the slaw on the side, it was a good, but verrrrrrry filling supper.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
(looks at Viking-length beard) Yup!
It’s his fault for having a neutral name. We need to have a Mumper social register to keep track of details like that. And nicknames. Someone should get on that.
I hear thunder - could mean something…
Pollworker training was this evening. Election (originally sked for back in April) will be next Tuesday. Not looking forward to having to wear my mask for a 16-hour day…
Howdy Y’all! Today mowage was accomplished by moi followed by a dip in the cee-mint pond. I take off my shirt, hose myself off to get rid of grass and any dirt (neither of which I want in the cee-mint pond) and dive in. I usually do this after I mow cause it feels good. Then I took a shower and have been a slug ever since. OYKW made sup. He was gonna help mow but I told him he sounded stuffded up this mornin’, which he was, so I said I’d handle it myself. Stuffded up, sneezy and yahd irk are not a good combo IMO.
BooFae appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the potential new gig.
Miss_Owl wear the thong to a house warmin’? Those kinds of things are not usually formal events. I miss ruble as well. We never met but I wanted to meet him. He called me swampykins. I would have been skeeved if it were anyone but him that called me that. Somehow he could get away with it.
I don’t mind canned green beans, but I’m with Bumba in that that is the only way to properly prepare 'em. Velveeta is just scary because I am sure that and roaches would survive a nuclear holocaust. However, I like that dip type thing people make with Velveeta, Ro-tel 'maters and ummm… other stuff (ground beast? shausage?).
** gotti** I agree that unless nonfood stuff is not allowed, the light bulbs would be a good thing. Folks need light bulbs.
Oh, please do! I have always wanted to be on The Social Register. The closest I’ve ever come is the many times my kids threatened to put me on the Kid Abuse Registry. Be sure to use my proper given name-Constance. (Is it any wonder I am so happy to go by Boo?)
Evening all. Went over to the park to watch the club soccer teams practicing and may have gotten myself some refereeing jobs…which I need, missing 2-3 months of soccer coaching/refereeing this spring has not done me any favors. On the drive back, I just happened (gee, look at that…) to go by the ice cream place and ended up with the Butter Pecan waffle cone, so that walking probably didn’t do me any good (but damn that ice cream was good). Also made it to Barnes and Noble and bought a book, so I have made contributions to the economy today.
No opinion on canned beans (Mom always made them fresh with the bacon too, Bumba) or Velveeta (which I haven’t eaten in oh, 45 years…). To each his/her own.
red, glad the bosses can see the ‘problem child’.
Have read all but retained modest amounts. Need to be internettin’ and readin’ now. All y’all take care.
Good luck boofae!
Like others, velveeta isn’t really food unless it’s in Rotel dip. However, if I know that I’m going to be pilling Nelson for a while (like the antibiotics after his recent dental work), I’ll buy the smallest loaf available to hide the pill in. My dog is definitely not a gourmand.
Howdy. I irked almost all day yesterday and brought home both my computers so I can finish some stuff from home. Not today though. Today was a sloth day. So in the morning I shall take over the dining table and coffee table for computer tables and commence to irking. I had four more classes added to the list of online training I need to do plus finish up evals. Never ending on the training.
I hope everyone has a great weekend coming up.
If only there was a list. Maybe on Facebook?
Dinner is Chipolte BBQ chicken with roasted chicken rice and corn with tomatoes and jalapenos
Heck of a thing to have on my birthday :).

Heck of a thing to have on my birthday :).
Might be the perfect chance to replenish your personal TP stash. Tough to wrap as a birthday present but there are those big
gift bags…
Happy early birthday. I’ll probably forget otherwise.
